Im tempted by this - am I wrong? Only because it looks warm and has a hood. It seems to be they either have warm without hood OR thin with hood. Also have red and blue like this but black would go with more. Is it awful? www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=20&viewAllFlag=false&catalogId=1 9551&storeId=12556&categoryId=130044&parentcategoryrn=42347&productId=784627&langId=-1

oh yes I probably won't be buying a winter coat this year - unless it's from lands end!
giraffe that topshop one is not bad but I can't make up my mind about duffle coats!

I like that duffle coat, I really want a long fitted coat.

ive never been in there before!

it is a two minutes walk from me i thought it was a frumpy bonne marche type place but decided to look

i was wrong

but it is more expensive than my usual haunt

new look tho about the same price as river island but looks a bit better quality

well it is all this military look...accessorise and places top shop i think have those ridiculous fake military medals attached to everything

i think that idea will bomb

I've got the great cord coat from Boden. It's pretty good, I'd give it an 8.5/10.

The only slight downside is that I'd like it to be a leetle shorter (just a few inches) and the sleeves could do with being slightly narrower.

CostaRicanCod · 13/09/2008 11:06

the cord coat has the dreaded seam above the bust

@ Jane Norman. Nasty fabrics and vile stuff whenever I've been in there.

Report
NomDePlume · 13/09/2008 11:07

seam above the bust ? Where on earth do your boobs hang ?!

Report
NomDePlume · 13/09/2008 11:09

Anyway, I like it and I'm keeping it. Will probably add a big old brooch or flower or something to perk it up a bit.

cod i think this is a perfect example

zippitippitoes · 13/09/2008 11:11

you reckon ndp?

that is the impression i got just walking past but thought it much better than top shop..think their fabrics are crappy especially for coats

Report
NomDePlume · 13/09/2008 11:11

Ah see, I hate topshop too.

Oh nom, I like the look of that cord coat. Might pop along to the Boden shop and have a look.

Agree with all the military faff tho. In particular I hate the slightly puffed shoulder details.

zippitippitoes · 13/09/2008 11:15

i dont like topshop i used to but not now

what about this out of my price range just a bit

not a shop i go in either tho there is one by jane norman

or this which would be better for me i cant wear long ones makes me look like a crow

Lazarou · 13/09/2008 11:18

Aren't Boden clothes made by small children in the third world who eat dust for lunch?

Report
squeaver · 13/09/2008 11:19

I think they're both quite dressy, zippi. Planet's generally good quality though.

Zara have got some gorgeous coats in atm. Not sure if it would meet your criteria but there is a lovely sort of checked one. Might be a skirty type thing though can't remember. I've got a black one from there last year, only problem is I've now got brown boots.

Report
zippitippitoes · 13/09/2008 13:40

you can have black and brown together tho unless it is a mans suit
