Thanks to TaceyB, JackieNo and 2loudboys for advising.

I got the shoes and don?t know how on earth I will wear them without breaking my neck after a couple of drinks or even before. I have been practising on carpet only so far and have had a wobble or two and suspect I look like a first time rubbish tranny in stilettoes. I hope to improve over the next few days

I ?m not really too bothered about the accessories as I have posh shoes, I may dig out some earrings and a few bangles from my drawer, not breaking my leg will take priority.

In the pics this morning I was wearing fishnet popsocks but won?t wear them (or leggings) on the night, I know I?m a lost cause but not that bad.

Any top tips on walking like a layyyydeeee?

Stretching my body and bit and trying to stand up really straight always makes me feel a little more elegant in crazily high heels, relax your hips too as you will wiggle more than in flats

(they are lovely btw!)

Exactly

You have to get used to balancing with your weight forward on the balls of your feet instead of mostly on your heels

The advice my mum - who lived in stilettos til she had her 5th child - gave to me (which seems to work!) is as follows:

Slightly tilt your hips forward, tucking your bum under

Think of leading from the hips as you walk.

As you step forward, place the foot down in one - don't attempt to go 'heel-toe' like you would in flats, this will not only make you wobble but will wreck your shoes as it'll bow them in the middle - putting your weight slightly toward the ball of the foot.

You will find this gives you a bit of a wiggle in your walk as your weight shifts from one side to the other, but that's part of the fun of wearing high heels imho...

Oh lovecat- that is so true, I try to walk as if I had flats on and it ends up hurting my ankle- will do all this when the dcs have gone to bed- if my dh isn't lying in the middle of the floor killing himself laughing that is.. Last pic???

OMG - those are sooooo lush.

It's true you need to put a lot of weight forward onto the balls of your feet with heels. You only wobble if you are putting too much weight on your heels. It might be worth getting some Scholl Party Gel Cushions, which you slip into the front part of your shoes and they make weightbearing all night on the balls of your feet bearable .

You really will look fantastic!!

Yes I did get those gel things you put in but they squished my feet a bit. They aren't the comfiest of high heels but I did try several others and these were by far the best platform ones taht didn't kill me. The balls of my feet do get a bit achey but hey it's worth it for an evening and hopefully they'll do me for all the other evening ocassions I'll not be chasing after kids and on totally even non slip surfaces

How does Victoria Beckham manage it without aches and sprains is a miracle.

Victoria Beckham's weight is in negative numbers, so no weightbearing aches to worry about! She will, however, start to become invisible soon, so it won't matter what the hell she wears .
