Hello, yo are pulling the hair out by the roots, what do you think?

moodlumthehoodlum Mon 08-Sep-08 21:13:07

yes, yes, yes.

like you can't imagine.

AvenaLife Mon 08-Sep-08 21:13:11

Ummm. Yes. It's the same as legs. OUCH!

If you are an inexperienced waxer then please do not attempt this at home.

thehair under your arms grows in two seperate directions and so takes some skill to be able to achieve a good result yourself.

get it done by a pro the first few times until you are used to it, then try it at home once you have seen how they do it...and they have weakened the roots.

It isn't that bad for goodness sake! Just make sure they are not too long (about 1 cm) - the hairs become finer over time too.

RubySlippers Mon 08-Sep-08 21:15:43

it hurts to wax anything

ladytophamhatt Mon 08-Sep-08 21:15:46

YES

I couldn't even put my arms down properly aferwards, I walked around for hours with 2 iminary watermelon tucks under my arms.

Bloody agony

RUMPEL Mon 08-Sep-08 21:16:21

I totally agree - DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DO YOURSELF!!!! Also make sure therapist is experienced, fully qualified and insured - don't be scared to ask to see qualifications etc - best to go to someone who is recommended IMO.

ladytophamhatt Mon 08-Sep-08 21:16:55

Oh FGS.

"with 2 imaginary watermelons tucked under....."

<bangs head on desk>

RubySlippers Mon 08-Sep-08 21:17:56

i still WHIMPER at the memory of having my eyebrows waxed

TheOriginalXENA Mon 08-Sep-08 21:18:35

shock grin I would never consider doing it myself. I have my legs/eyebrows and bikini line waxed, due to go tomorrow and I was wondering if I should go for armpits as well.

RubySlippers Mon 08-Sep-08 21:19:33

Xena - get your eyebrows threaded if you can

hurts a lot less and the shape is better IMO

RUMPEL Mon 08-Sep-08 21:19:36

Och well you'll be fine and you'll get a discount grin

AvenaLife Mon 08-Sep-08 21:19:44

I did mine with an epilady once. Never again sad They were so sore and so red afterwards.

differentID Mon 08-Sep-08 21:20:04

I had my eyebrows waxed for the first time on June 26th. It felt like boiling oil was being spread over my skin- never again! Long live the unibrow!

TheOriginalXENA Mon 08-Sep-08 21:21:36

I think it is less painful to wax than pluck eyebrows!

TheOriginalXENA Mon 08-Sep-08 21:23:15

Really ruby slippers? Have not seen it offered at the local salon (is that the right term? It used to be 'beauty parlour')
Is that when they use cotton? How does that actually pull the hairs out?

moodlumthehoodlum Mon 08-Sep-08 21:25:10

eyebrows are nothing in comparison with armpits.

Once and never again for armpits. Every month for eyebrows.

RUMPEL Mon 08-Sep-08 21:25:52

Pulls the hairs out by grasping them tight.

DIFF - if it felt like boiling tar and you were really red afterwards then the wax must have been too hot!! Therapist is supposed to check temperature before applying. There is some redness afterwards but it should not feel hot - just warm. Done properly it can make a huge improvment to someones face shape.

RubySlippers Mon 08-Sep-08 21:26:52

yep - they use cotton thread and it pull the hair out

i don't know quite how they do it but it is brill

it hurts a lot less than waxing IME

BecauseImWorthIt Mon 08-Sep-08 21:28:12

You load of wusses!

It hurts briefly because it's over very quickly.

RubySlippers Mon 08-Sep-08 21:28:53
