I give up! I've trailed round shops and sites and can't find a sodding thing that looks like it would be warm enough but isn't going to break the bank.

I'd like something smart-ish, that can cope with temps of up to about -15 (though mostly I'll just be staying indoors those days methinks!), it must generously cover bum/top of thighs, and preferably not over £100.

Does it exist???!!

They have some lovely coats in my local Benetton, from £75 to about £120 I think. I loved all of them.

Me neither. It looks like I could end up looking like a giant walking puffball. Wasn't quite what I had in mind.

Everyone here wears huge canada goose jacket things. I think that name is right But they are stupidly expensive and huge!!

You know what squiggly that coat looks incredibly warm! Am sure you could order/try it/send back if necessary? Am quite tempted myself because I always feel the cold.

I also had one when I lived in Manchester. There is only so much cold one can take!

It does look very warm you're right. Maybe I should order it and see what it looks like. Maybe it's not as unflattering as I'm assuming....

I refuse to shell out £500 plus for the woolen full length trench coats that are the only alternative to the goose affairs. It's an obscene amount of money!

I got one of those coats like the Landsend ones 2 years ago from H&M - was pregnant at the time and thought I'd get a cheapish coat to see me thro that winter - I didn't think I would wear it after the pregnancy but I love it - wore it again loads last winter and will do so again this winter! Quality was v good - lovely and padded and I got a knee length one which keeps me toasty even on the really cold days. Plus I'm not worrying about getting mucky when playing with the kids as its wipeable material!

Was worried about looking chunky in it but dont appear to!

Think it was about 40 pounds - mine was black but they had a nice brwon or cream one too.

They had them again last year so maybe will do this year????
