following on from the 'keep warm in winter thread', let's talk warm clothes. Specifically VESTS

I have spent the last winter in a black one of these which has looked quite respectable even if on show (under short sleeved dresses, wrap dresses etc)

however since I am already wearing the damn thing in the first week of Sept, some heavier armour is obviously going to be necessary

tips, please, cheaper the better

13 degrees in the far NE and with a biting NNE wind... I also need warm clothes for the winter school run, that avoid the michelin man look.

i got polypro ones from Berghaus dirt cheap last February in The Highland Shop.

i don't think i'll be showing them off, however, because it's already 13 degrees with a very strong wind, so it's going to be jumper weather.

no thermals allowed until it is 10C or below

until then you may wear strappy vests underneath or cardigans etc on top

otherwise you will have nowhere left to go when it is proper winter

(Tchibo ski thermals are excellent but not suitable for flashing at necklines etc - they are not in yet but keep your eyes open. Longjohns v good too.)
