I have spent the last winter in a black one of these which has looked quite respectable even if on show (under short sleeved dresses, wrap dresses etc)

however since I am already wearing the damn thing in the first week of Sept, some heavier armour is obviously going to be necessary

tips, please, cheaper the better grin

motherinferior once sent me a link to some gorgeous silk vests

but it is 15 here, okay

SO IT IS COLDER

blardy southerners

13 degrees in the far NE and with a biting NNE wind... I also need warm clothes for the winter school run, that avoid the michelin man look.

i got polypro ones from Berghaus dirt cheap last February in The Highland Shop.

i don't think i'll be showing them off, however, because it's already 13 degrees with a very strong wind, so it's going to be jumper weather.

no no no

no thermals allowed until it is 10C or below

until then you may wear strappy vests underneath or cardigans etc on top

otherwise you will have nowhere left to go when it is proper winter

ditto wool coats

(Tchibo ski thermals are excellent but not suitable for flashing at necklines etc - they are not in yet but keep your eyes open. Longjohns v good too.)

oh I love those thermal vest things, been wearing my DHs work thernal leggings around the house in the evening and will now purchase my very own!

I'm going to do more layers this year.

And that other top on your link looks good to run in.

Cappuccino Sat 06-Sep-08 15:23:59

MrsB I am cold. I am cold

Cappuccino Sat 06-Sep-08 15:25:53

oh heated

I like the phrase 'intense warmth'

Saggarmakersbottomknocker Sat 06-Sep-08 15:35:51

The Thermal silk looks quite nice. But only 'Soft Warmth' Capp.

Cappuccino Sat 06-Sep-08 16:28:25

<pah> to soft warmth

Aefondkiss Sat 06-Sep-08 19:18:46

yes MrsB no plans on wearing thermals just yet! but it would be good to see what is available.

katch Sat 06-Sep-08 19:31:54

Bella di Notte do some nice lacy ones - have worn them under a low v-neck - sorry can't do the link thing.
