I want this fire surround - DH says it's horrid. What do you think?

Should I just go ahead and bid on it anyway?

LyraSilvertongue Thu 04-Sep-08 19:06:16

ah unfortunately my esp is not working today. I need a link wink

WigWamBam Thu 04-Sep-08 19:11:37

Doesn't matter what it looks like; if either one of you doesn't like it then it's a no-no in my book.

It's his home too ...

hullygully Thu 04-Sep-08 19:12:45

I love it - very minimalist

catinthehat Thu 04-Sep-08 19:16:21

Dunno, not my favourite fire surround
Have a look at this one

Your DH will probably go for this one I imagine.

I belive your husband was trying to say something on these lines "You will have nightmares poking the dust out from those parallel bits at the top, and the surface may not be particularly well finished." but it came out wrong. He was only thinking of you.

Slubberdegullion Thu 04-Sep-08 19:34:56

I agree with your DH, and WWB

DAmn. Cat, none of your linsk work.

Lynette, it's a bit fussy for my liking - looks like a lot of dusting to me.

Got me all excited then.

LynetteScavo Thu 04-Sep-08 19:43:59

Ah, but Wigwambam, DH has a theory that houses houses where only one person chooses the interior design tend to look better than houses where two peoples tastes have clashed.

1950's semi blush We ripped out an early 80's suround that incorporated a shelf which went into the alcove hmm.

I want something tastefull, classy, not cheesy, yet will look OK in a 50's semi. I'm not sure this is possible. sad I've only done rambling victorian and new build before.

We have pain walls.

Sisal as in that stuff you can't get sick out of? hmm

I'm going for wood floors, but DH reckons he will fit it himself, so probably won't be installed untill 2015.

WigWamBam Thu 04-Sep-08 19:58:15

Oh no, don't like that.

It reminds me of that game where you stack up the wooden bricks and then have to pull each one out and wait for it to fall over.
