Found the perfect school run coat; now let's do the shoes...

The Lands End Stadium squall has won the coat battle for me.

So now what about excellent 'walking in the rain but still OK for work' shoes?

I am quite liking the Kangaroo voltage... (can't work out how to do a link cos the www.schuh.co.uk site has lots of frames...) but am wondering if there is something nice that's a bit more covered at front but not too trainer-ish.

My criteria are:

1. Must be low-heeled but ideally not completely flat (low wedge good)

2. Must have good grip for slippy, wet and icy footpaths

3. Must have enough coverage on top/in front to not get too wet in rain

4. Must look nice (gotta wear em to work too) and not like cornish pasties, or trainers or lentil-weaver buses...

5. Ideally must suit trousers or skirts but realise this is a bit much to ask...

Ankle boots good too for trousers but most long boots don't work for me as, er, fat calves (and can't always afford Duo...)

Thanks.

Ooh I love that coat! Well done!

How about Fly wedges? Or are they too open?

Yes, others have recommended the Fly wedges before and they're really nice. Good for skirts too.

Thanks.

sorry to be dull but clarks are fab

brimfull Thu 04-Sep-08 14:43:22

those kangaroo ones are a bit school shoe I think

WilfSell Thu 04-Sep-08 14:45:55

Will look at clarks soon but in meantime how about these or these...?

brimfull Thu 04-Sep-08 14:46:03

dr martens

Fimbo Thu 04-Sep-08 14:46:12

Will do you have the coat? What is it like, I was swithering over it or the Boden urban mac. Have gone for the urban mac but it is not here yet.

WilfSell Thu 04-Sep-08 14:46:49

Not yet fimbo - have only just ordered it last night. Will report back on my other thread...

brimfull Thu 04-Sep-08 14:47:12

both those are nice but with trousers only I think

Fimbo Thu 04-Sep-08 14:47:33

Ok will look out for it! grin

WilfSell Thu 04-Sep-08 14:48:19

OK must do some work again - will report back with more shoes later...

brimfull Thu 04-Sep-08 14:51:26

these

I'm not owrking so I'll carry on

cmotdibbler Thu 04-Sep-08 14:53:38

What about these ?

I have a pair of patent black DM shoes with high heels, and the massive advantage is that they all have the full airwair sole, so super grippy and comfy to wear

Whizzz Thu 04-Sep-08 15:00:00

Oooooo I HAVE to have one of those coats but £120!!

sweetheart Thu 04-Sep-08 15:00:42

I have to say I brought some cowboy like boots and am loving them for these reasons! I wear mine to work under trousers and although I'm told they would look fine with a skirt I'm not brave enough yet, but maybe soon!

Anyway - they are a bit like this www.faith.co.uk/productdetails.aspx?pid=240177&language=en-GB&cid=calf_boots_1

WilfSell Thu 04-Sep-08 20:15:27

OK would also like feedback on these Next wedges: high and low

Does anyone have them already? Are they slippy on the bottom?

Like the Fly wedges but have just ordered a pair of their boots and can't afford the wedges too (spesh since spending my whole Autumn/winter budget on coat too). Need skirt shoes for walking too though... Still looking.

I quite like these too, though also a bit school shoe. Like the grippy sole/heel though (we do have slippy paths!)
