Someone was talking about Per Una red coats on here a couple of days ago.

Really?

Are they not floral with artful drapes and carefully placed faux pins and buttons?

Surprisingly not

They are in France

I bought myself a gorgeous MaxMara coat in early August, and my daughter a fabulous purple coat from Bonpoint.

It's not bad that. More of a mac though, no?
Lets see your Maxmara then Anna.

They don't do online sales so can't show.

It's got a sort of reversible bolero with a hood that you wear over the main part of the coat when it's cold or raining. You can wear either the coat or the bolero on its own. So it's 4-in-1 IYSWIM.

Sounds very nice.
Last year there was a fab thread on red coats. I can still see a lovely Hobbs number in my mind's eye.

h&m looked good to me

poss cos I was restricted to a small amount of maternity stuff and couldn't fit into the rest

colours for autumn in general are lovely - deep purple, dark red, rich browns and so on

Red coats can look gorgeous but would not go with the rest of my wardrobe so I won't be able to help there

Well, I am thinking long number to use primarily for work with fairly formal stuff. Just sooooo bored of charcoal grey/black.

I have copy of Grazia to hand (cheap £1 offer at mo)

they are rating Reiss for work wear - looks great but on the pricey side

Oh, I always know what I want, and believe me, after 6 weeks lounging by a pool with a mound of magazines, I have honed my thoughts!

Here are 2 that are on the Next website:

here

and

here too

I got one last year from there and loved it - fitted very well and it was a nice change not to wear black.

Have seen another online somewhere that was also nice but now can't think where - will get back to you when it comes to me!! Was this the sort of thing you were thinking about???

I like this:

warehouse purple coat

And I totally agree about the non-black situation. Although saying that, I did just buy a beautiful wool belted super-fitted coat from Zara Woman Collection. But, yes you've guessed it - it is black!

Thanks girls.
All nice but not sure someone with tits can get away with an unbroken plain front.

That Per Una one linked to below caught my eye in store - it is cordury and more of a long jacket rather than a proper winter coat.

I'm going to buck the trend and get neutral/black because I have red shoes and red handbag for this winter and fear being mistaken for a postbox!

How about this for a not-black-but-not-red-option? (and no plain front)
