Need to lose this 16mth post natal bulge not helped by 15mths severe spd limiting exercise and a not very healthy appetite for lager.
I am ok weight wise tbh 5ft 6 just under 10stone with big humungous norks.
But I have the pot which I hate and amjust untoned generally

I amable to exercisenow as spd has healed
Amplanning on doing Charlie brooks or davina DVD 2-4 x a week plus light weight exercise 2-3 eveningswith my kettlebell.

Is 2 mths enough time?
There will be ex friends there and one ex boyf... Need to be trimmer!
All tips for exercise greatly receieved but I cannot run as boobs hurt and joints can't take it yet!
I am prepared to work hard and check into be monitored

No idea on the exercise (I have no stomach muscles to speak of). How mahoosive are the norks? Can you do halterneck? (or am I way off the mark? Am assuming beachy type wedding, but is it actually a church one?). This could work too, and bra-friendly.

Piffle - I'm (now) a similar height/weight to you - hardly any norks though. I lost half a stone before I went away.

Virtually no booze I'm afraid - probably less than a bottle of wine consumed over the whole two months.

Gym 3 days a week - rowing/cross trainer/strength work/stomachs, plus road running twice a week, only 5k. You could cycle if you can't run. My gym do a pay as you go thingy so you don't have to commit to months of it. I know gym isn't everyones cup-ot-tea (or you may not have the time), it wasn't mine TBH I was sort of forced into it as I could run as much as I wanted, but it really has made a difference; tummy and arms both much more toned, lost a bit off my legs too.

wine has more calories than beer you would be better off swapping for spirits with diet mixers

swimming, pilates and sit ups are all good for toning your tum. and walk every where you go holding your tummy in while you do it

Hi Piffle - I did city shorts at a wedding recently, with a really nice jacket and killer heels. Felt great - didn't spend all my time worrying about bra straps/cleavage and showed off my decent legs whilst masking less great areas. Would this work for you?

Cut out refined carbs - bread, white pasta, sweets. Works v quickly

oh yes what monkey said and make sure you eat regulalry especially breakfast otherwise you will get too hungry and you will binge.

if you want to tone up you will need a lot of lean protien for muscle development, i.e. eggs, chicken, fish, turkey, beans, pulses, nuts and seeds. make sure you have some protien with every meal. and no eating after 8pm.

I have hyperglycaemia so eat sensibly. I don't eat White bread or sweets White pasta 1-2 x per wk but will swap for wholewheat instead?
I follow GI pretty much.
Example of a typical day

Low fat yoghurt fruit or shredded wheat x2 with semi skimmed milk and tea no sugar as I hate it!

Lunch tomato soup, wholemeal toasted pitta
Or hot smoked salmon 1/2 fillet and salad. Only dressing is balsamic vinegar. Usuallythrow in some pine nuts or sesame seeds.

Carrot sticks hummus snack
Dinner always healthy. Worst dinner in a week is spag bol but I have without pasta and take some salad on side.
I sometimes have a biscuit or two in afternoon like rich tea or gingernut.
Weigt not so much an issue as the flabby tummy though that will not go without exercise!
Did davinas 3x30 mind cardio box routine was ok enough, will hurt tomorrow though I think!

watching thread as tummy now flabby...

i think you should add some lean protein into your breakfast. scrambled egg on ryvita for example?

if you're having yoghurt, fruit, shredded wheat then pitta and soup for lunch you're not actually having any protein until dinner time.

exercise wise i really recommend upping the time spent to at least 45mins to really get into fat burning zone. even if you have to slow right down, keep going for at least 45 mins, an hour if you can.

(she says with a cup of tea and a choc biscuit, not dressed yet, and could be in the gym! Dh had offered to look after kids...

i saw a nutritionist a few years ago who analysed what i thought was a healthy diet.

she said i should be eating protein with every meal or snack to keep my blood sugar level (which also encourages your body to burn fat). So a few unsalted almonds with an apple for example. A piece of ham or slice of cheese on brown toast/ryvita was better than a banana for me.

It did work, i lost that annoying 1/2 stone around my middle quite easily at the time. Wish i could get the motivation to do it again. Am too fond of freshly baked crusty baguettes, cappuccinos and croissants. Pre children I never used to be bothered by cake etc...

piffle - have you tried Bravissimo for dresses and tops? V good for the norkularly endowed. this is nice too, but not sure i'ts right for the beach. Or this in the green?
Just found some in the sale - this may be a bit casual, or similar as a top?

Report
Piffle · 16/08/2008 14:50

yes I love bravissimo have ordered that dress to try
Would prefer a brighter colour so have ordered pretty appliqué dress from boden sale and if nice can get tailor to alter for me!
Have got plain almonds so will nibble a few
Not big fan of fruit tbh but adore veges
Like banana mashed on toast though melon and grapes
Fruit aggravates my blood sugars so tend to avoid it

Just to correct- you ARE getting protein with what you are doing-
their is protein in yoghurt ( milk=protein)
protein in cereal and pitta bread=wheat protein
protein in hummuus=chick peas=vegetable protein

Report
amidaiwish · 19/08/2008 11:20

but not high quality lean protein.

Report
girlnextdoor · 19/08/2008 12:38

They are not meat proteins if that is what you mean, but all of them are protein and a vegetarian would rely on dairy, cereal and pulse proteins and no meat protein at all.
