Grey silk cocktail dress , have looked everywhere??????????

I seem to have a fixation on this as wanted a top the same a few weeks back. I have several occasions that call for a dress , but I want one quite modern and drapy and preferably on the knee as this suits my leg shape.

I bought one in Wharehouse on Saturday (although not on their website) and just showed it to my sis who thinks its far from flattering, Im beginning to agree!

Tis a shame as the top half around the chest area is nicely designed - long rever collar that ends in a drapy knot with satin sheen, low v, folded back short sleeves and the body area is more matt. It feels good to the waist, but the bottom half combines a drapy tulip shape with a 1920's style deep gusset thing and I look severly pear shaped in it and come to think of it frumpy!!!

Not quite grey, but 'porcini' (presumably a bit more taupey), but rather nice.
and 'Sage' - looks grey to me.

Could you have something made?

Will be hard to find something this specific, and if you found a pattern you could the exact fabric that you want.

Have a look at designs here:

That last ones quite nice, quite similar to a black ted baker one Ive bought.

The 1st 2 linked are a bit too formal for me, or may be structured is the word. They are nice though.

My 1st party is this coming weekend, missblythe alhough I do have the Ted baker one.

weird my post related to your 1st post , but could equally work with the post with all the net a porter links as my ted baker dress is very similar to the black one.

Alas budget only as far as £100 , but that shirt dress was perfect [disappointed emoticon!!!]. All spot on design wise though jackie no.

lovely colour , a bit to tailored for what Im looking for.

Ive got a thing about unstructured more urban looks like this , but noooo way can I wear that jumpsuit! (see cube in the middle row SS08 collection).

See once I get a fixation I will not stop till I find it. It has to exist somewere!!!

ahhhhh Wharehouse now have the dress online that I described in the OP.

Im wondering if anything could be done to it to make it more flattering? Have the Hem/gusset bit removed?

That dress is lovely but I too am one of those who cannot pull off that tight bit at the bottom look. No idea how you can change it though. There must be a way.

Long shot but you'll see what I mean.

How about river island, top shop, dorothy perkins, etc?

Im referring to the tulip dress btw because that looks silly on the toosh as the pleats at the back go back in under the bum and make ones derrier look HUGE!!!!
