I do wear make up, wear jewellery, have (some) nice clothes and style my hair every day - but am nearly 40 and a complete frecklepuss - what should I do to prevent face looking like sharpei dog?

Please excuse shallow thread in light of emancipated discussions grin

So far look tolerably well preserved, but have fair skin and masses of freckles (poss 50% coverage in summer). Presumably this is sun damage from misspent youth(eek!). Def hints of incipient wrinkle near eyes and freckles on backs of hands (but not brown spots thank god).

I usually wear sun block on sunny days, but think I may need to be more radical on daily basis. I also tend to react to perfumed products on my face.

MI has touted virtues of posh skincare on the other thread, which has made me think - what should I use? Currently tend to use whatver on offer in boots.

Any advice?

I am a red-head, so I know about freckles!! grin I use boots expert anti-blemish day moisturiser SPF 15. I find it really good, and it's only £3.99!!

Oh that sounds like my kind of price.

RR runs to Boots

What's the other thread? (shallow posh beauty product junkie)
clinique city block is good for spf purposes.

Starts with make-up but develops into skincare. A week on holiday and I am having sharpei phobia. And fears of liver spots!

cornsilk Sat 02-Aug-08 18:09:15

liver spots

My mum had them and with 50% freckles, I fail to see how I can avoid - I think can only delay.

And then wear gloves everyday

lou33 Sat 02-Aug-08 18:21:29

Quakes with fear of age
Am apprachign 40s kicking and screaming.

Nearly crashed car the other day when I saw a grey hair when looking in rear view mirror.

cornsilk Sat 02-Aug-08 18:27:35

There's got to be something to get rid of liver spots. Bleach them or something.

lou33 Sat 02-Aug-08 18:44:04

ah now grey hair i have had for ages but i just dye it lol

RR, I am the same as you, and have been using the Boots No. 7 Beauty Serum and OMG! It's fab. It's only been a week and I'm already seeing results.

I posted on here, as it was between the beauty serum and Bio Oil. The beauty serum came out the winner. I can see why! Although I did get the Bio Oil for my bump.

Shit, I'm sure I'm getting liver spots or they might be freckles on my hand. oh God how will I know the difference?

RubyRioja Sat 02-Aug-08 19:02:08

I think liver spots are more blotches - my freckles are defined dots iyswim.

I am aiming for the huge knuckled arthritic look myself - maybe I should accept the inevitable

MissFortune Mon 04-Aug-08 15:43:13

Expat, what difference has it made?

JackieNo Mon 04-Aug-08 17:03:42

You need to buy the Vogue that's about to come out, with lots of red on the cover, as it has a whole article in praise of freckles. Might make you feel more positive about them. Embrace your freckliness, so to speak.

expatinscotland Mon 04-Aug-08 17:04:20

it's evened out my skin tone already, mrsf!

MissFortune Mon 04-Aug-08 17:26:57

excellent, what's the full name expat if you don't mind?

cocolepew Mon 04-Aug-08 17:32:32

I argued with my Mum that the liver spots marks on my hands were freckles. I blame pushing buggies. Mineral foundation is good for covering freckles. I'm a freckle face, though it doesn't bother me, and since using this I hardly notice them.

Until I wash it off grin

expatinscotland Mon 04-Aug-08 17:51:50

it's that No. 7 Beauty Serum stuff, MrsF.

Tehre's one for the body and one for your face.

It's the biz!
