matte, 10 denier, natural colour to match your legs. If in doubt go slightly lighter rather than slightly darker probably

not in high summer anna!

I think the whole outfit is not really right for a hot day but "natural" tights are really horrid, and especially with a black skirt and shoes.

Zippi - can't you wear some smart summer trousers (and therefore have bare legs underneath) instead?

oh right

the outfit looks quite nice i think

determined not to have a clothes crisis at this point aagh

i dont think i can wear black at this time of year

What is horrid about natural tights? They are just like a better version of bare legs, surely? Absolutely agree that black tights would be very odd in high summer.

But, go as light and as thin as possible and get the best you can afford. No no no to American Tan.

I'd go for black too.
Or no tights, some light tan and baby oil.

i assume that people who work must wear natural tights

you cant wear bare legs for an interview im sure

Your outfit sounds fine to me.

Oh I would do trews rather than skirt and tights, you will boil. Failing that, hold ups or stockings, we have a no bare legs rule at work and when I have to wear the (delightful, man made fabric) skirts they provide us with, I wear hold ups. Tights around the crotch in this weather is a recipe for sweaty uncomfortableness.

Most people DO wear natural tights where I work. Black opaques in winter. Tis normal.

No bare legs
Do they want you to get thrush?

Obviously I have no idea if most people wear tights or hold ups, but I'd agree that stockings or hold ups would be the coolest option.

You will be feel much cooler in hold ups or stockings. You can get some good, natural coloured hold ups in JL.

I agree that bare legs is difficult for an interview unless your legs are 100% fantastic and your skirt is below knee length.

But I also think that wearing tights on a hot day looks odd and will make you feel uncomfortable.

Hold ups are more often fall-downs in my experience. Not to be recommended in an interview situation.
What sort of job is it?

Black tights you can get away with everyday cheapies, but for natural I think you need to pay more attention - they can look thick and horrid. M&S do three packs called "Look on legs" in shine and matt. I think the matt looks best but the shine are fine too. 10 denier.

Vs, don't ask, our MD's favourite colour is pink, so we all have to have pink neck ties in our uniform too!

If it's retail don't wear natural tights which are always frumpy. You need to look reasonably modern and forward-looking for retail.

Plenty of people wearing skirts in this office and not one pair of tights but no tights for an interview a no-no I reckon

zippi if I were you I would go for 10 denier matte naturals as others have said

I am an habitual trouser wearer myself

What job? Good luck

Report
ranting · 31/07/2008 11:08

I would do matt rather than gloss, matt looks more polished than gloss.
