Why is matching gear so irritating?

I hate things that match. Shoes / bag. Pram / nappy bag. Two children dressed the same. Men in coloured shirts with the same coloured tie. Shirt / tie sets. I don't even like matching plates.

Should I be in AIBU? Or having a little light therapy?

bit of both?
lol
i quite like the nappy bag matching the puchchair thing. but the children dressed alike really annoys me to.
matching plates are a necessity. i think the table tlooks horrible if non matching. but obviously with a buffet, its not possible to have that many matching.

If I'm matching it's usually by chance.

DH and I often match. Jeans, white t-shirt, navy jumper, deck shoes. This is by chance but we both like similiar type clothes - dull I suppose.

He doesn't wear ear-rings though.

I'm with No 19 - never been a matchy matchy person. Nothing in our house matches unless it's by accident.

Although since I have been working in marketing I have become very aware of colours and their various combinations!

I think it's more the matching stuff to your own outfit/home than wearing same type of things as your other half/dcs...
think it shows serious lack of imagination !

I don't like matching things either, but co-ordinating I like.

My pet hate is matching curtains and cushion covers/bedspread.

I have no matching chairs in my house, they are all odd. I like that.

I really don't like matchy things but, my BIL describes me as a bit of a hippy, so that could be the reason.

I prefer co-ordinated too. Don't like matching shoes and handbag, very old lady.
I like a matching dinner set though.

ranting, I get told I'm a bit of a hippy too

God I used to work with a woman who had an Eternal Beau matching crockery set (back in the late 80s), very proud of it, she was.

My sister was given loads of Eternal Bean crap. Height of fashion in 1987.
I detest those prams and huge nappy bags. What the hell do people put in them???

Report
psychomum5 · 31/07/2008 13:12

mmondog, the nappy bags contain everything you will need to keep baby fed/clean/entertained for a week!

or just one day with my DD3 and her ability to vomit on everything in sight.
