Am I the only person not to understand French Pedicures???

You have them on your fingers to make your nails look neat, long and white - why would you have them on your toes - I look and think - 'God you need to cut your toenails!' But it seems all the rage at the moment and lots of the ladies at the school have them am I completely out of touch or are the not as yucky as I think.

Thank you! I thought I was the only one who didn't "get" french pediures - completely agree with the "you need to cut your toenail" thought.

When I go for a pedicure (not v often) I tend to go for short nails and a bright colour varnish, beautician always looks a bit when thats what I ask for!

i had one done a few weeks ago of the first time and must say that i do agree a bit with you. Yes they look nice and neat, but they also sort of look like i haven't done anything with them and would be more of a statement with a nice colour on them!

Had a French pedicure yesterday and I got little diamond-thingies all along the bottom of the big toe-nail. Def the done thing here in Budapest - therapist sighed a bit when I asked for it but then I noticed she had it as well! Looks pretty I think!

I do get colour as well though - every alternate pedicure. Have also had French one with tiny little daisies on bottom of big toenail. Very pretty.

I think it may be a marmite thing - however beautiful the feet (and I have seen lovely feet with a french pedicure) I always think "CUT YOUR NAILS WOMAN". And don't even get me started on the man I saw yesterday with a french pedicure...

Course I blame my parents - if we hadn't had nylon sheet when i was small, maybe the long-toe-nails-bad thing wouldn't be so deeply ingrained

one of my friends had gel nails added to her toenails and then done french - so they were pretty long

I was unable to stop myself from going "bbbbut.....why do you want to look like a hobbit"

No I don't get them either, they look wrong and I don't like nail art. I had a pedi the other day and I have short neat looking shiny corally red toenails. I fear I may have shuddered when she asked if I wanted nail art. It is huge here apparently.

Hmmmm nail art is for the under 16s I fear and why would any of you want long looking toe nails - long toe nails equal bad grooming and they go manky and fall off if you run for more than about a mile in your trainers!

have seen tons of middle class mothers with french pedis - including myself!

think they are chic, last very well and look groomed without being de trop.

having said that, they are now a bit passe and brighter colours are more fashion forward.

i always have short nails on both hands and feet

A French pedi doesn't have to be long. Mine isn't. Toenails cut to same length as they would be for colour.

Stayed with friends at the weekend and my friend had her nails painted blue. Now THAT I thought did not look good. I thought it went out years ago. I remember having blue toes in the early 90s. But I wouldn't judge! (Well not much!)

french toes don't = long toe nails...

I go to nails inc and I have gel nails on my finger nails and they are short..NOT long extensions so are easy for nappy changes etc..I have gel applied to my toes as well. They are also fm and imo look neat and looked after. I do also like bright polish which I can paint myself inbetween..

What I hate is unpainted toes that are long...so the "white" bit of the nail is long...My friends are like that and I think..eeuugghhhhhhhhhhhhh.!!!
Put some polish on or at least shorten them a bit...
