Ok, humour me here, I have just bought this with a special scheme at work and I need some accessories!

I need a helmet that isn't going to make me look like an idiot (is that possible?) and a waterproof jacket befitting my beautiful bike , with the way the weather is atm a pac a mac (urgh I know) might be a good idea. Not too expensive

Bumper that is a beautiful bike!

There is no such thing as a helmet that won't make you look like an idiot though (although personally, I think people cycling around without helmets look more like idiots), but there ar either the classic cycling helmet style ones or more motorbikey round ones.

Don't worry what the helmet looks like, try lots on and get the most comfortable. A peak helps keep the sun/rain out of your eyes.

I know high-vis clothing doesn't fit with the beautiful bike (I'd suggest a pretty sundress and some flowers in the basket ) but wearing a high-vis jacket with sleeves was shown in one trial to be the one thing that makes motorists give you more room when they pass as they perceive you as wider.

DH swears by Wiggle for well-priced bike kit.

What a gorgeous bike I would love one. Agree with OMDB about cycle helmets

Well I use a lightweight walking jacket for cycling (a Wynnster Stowaway not sure whether they still do them). It's breathable and 100% waterproof, but isn't specially for cycling so doesn't cost a fortune. And you don't look too odd when you get off your bike to walk around town.

It is helpfully longer at the back to cover your (ahem) seat

Would suggest getting a bright colour for visibility, though.

[swoon] at the reflective tweed cape

Velorution is cool too - they're the place that did the Vamoose high-vis pink waistcoat with reflective skull and crossbones (not quite they style you wanted but still)

So for helmets I just need to decide whether to go for the purple matt of cranberry gloss?
