Invisalign - anyone got one?

Thinking of invisible brace- anyone had one nad what is the cheapest quote you have had? Been told to expect £3K-£4K which is small fortune, but not sure if it's reall y worth it.

I wanted one but as my teeth were very wonky I was told it would be better to have a fixed brace. This cost around 2.5K whcih is still a lot of money.
If your teeth aren't too crooked or hugely protuding, then it may well be worth it as it's very discreet.

There was an article in The Times yesterday about Invisalign.

I haven't had them, but did get full monty metal train tracks at the grand age of 38. I didn't find it a problem socially, and was glad to have braces that were efficient, and therefore on for only a short time.

I had a fixed brace at the age of 25 as my teeth were too crooked for invisalign. Cost 2.5k but paid in instalments over 2 years. Was not too noticeable as I had clear brackets, so you could only really see the wires.

It was well worth it, I love my smile now!

yes, I saw the article in The Times which prompted me to ask! I have been meaning to see the dentist for ages for a quote, so might get round to it.

Don't think I would want a fixed brace, tbh.

I have Invisalign braces.

They cost £2000ish per arch - which includes the braces and dentist's fees.
They can sort out fairly crooked teeth actually - I looked at some of the before and after photos on the net and saw that there were lots of good results for people with worde teeth than me.
I had originally seen an orthodontist who said I would definitely need a fixed brace as my 'bite' needs sorting out but having had a fixed brace years ago didn't want to go through that again and quite frankly I'm not that worried about my 'bite'just wanted the couple of teeth that are out of alignment .

So I saw a dentist that sprecialises in Invisalign and he said I would be fine for the treatment and I have had the braces for a few months now with few problems.

winetime- is it essential to have top and bottom done for the "bite"- a friend who had it done said "yes" but my bottom row are almost okay.

Basically, I have 2 front teeth that cross- the middle front 2, and one on the other side.

I don't want train tracks as I talk a lot with my work and see people a lot- think i'd rather put up with crossed teeth.

I am getting invisalign this year! I am so excited! My teeth are less than perfectly straight, but they are starting to shift with age. My two central teeth will cross if I don't stop it. My dentist says that mine will cost US$2500, and that it should take about 9 months. If you have more serious problems it takes longer, and the cost is about double. I was told that some people are not candidates if they have severe problems with their spacing/bite/jaw alignment. They would need traditional metal brackets.

I don't think you need to have both top and bottom done but am not really sure. The best thing to do is find a dentist that does Invisalign braces and have a consultation.

The one thing I would say if you have to talk alot for work is that you do tend to have quite a lisp when you start with the braces but that should ease off as your mouth gets used to them. I also found { and still do sometimes if I have just got a new pair of braces } that talking alot can make your tongue sore as it tends to rub on the back of the braces. Other than that they are far easier to wear than fixed braces. You have to take them out to eat and have hot drinks although I have to say I drink tea with mine in. And the other thing I hadn;t realised until it was actually being done was that the dentist had to initially do a lttle bit of reshaping of my teeth to allow the room for them to move past each other.

Overall I am very pleased with them.
