Anyone gone from blonde to brunette ??

Am going to hairdressers tomorrow to get my hair coloured. I've been blonde all my life - naturally until early 20's, then mousey so started having highlights.

I've been thinking of going brown for a while and last time I had some brown low lights put in but I didn't like it because it looked too stripey.

So - should I just go the whole hog and go brunette. Has anyone done it ? If I hate it, will it be easy enough to go back to blonde

I did it years ago
Felt like someone else
I don't think I lasted more than 8 weeks before I went blonde again

If you have highlighted or bleached hair then the brown may not stay long anyway

Did you go for a block colour or did you have foils (low lights ) ? Was it easy to get back to your previous colour ?

I'm quite keen to try it but get married in November and would hate to be sort of stuck between two colours then.

Ah - its only hair isn't it ? Must learn to be more adventurous

block colour but iirc i was block blonde before
took a long time as they dyed it twice, red first I think to stop it going green

Might be better to have 1/3 blonde foils and 2/3 low lights?

Don't do it!

I coloured my hair yesterday and so wish I hadn't

I went from blonde to brunette, one block colour and never looked back. Brown hair looks so much better on me, can't believe I wasted so many years as a blonde!

It hasn't turned out the same as the colour on the box and it is too dark. People say they like it but one woman agreed by no response I was ugly.

I think it all depends on your eye and skin colour tbh.

If you have dark eyes and are quite olivey then imo dark hair looks better and can be very striking..

But if you are green or blue eyed with mousey hair golden and blonde highlights look good.

I'm mousey with green eyes and did the blonde to dark red a few years ago... oh my god I looked like a russian spy!

I'm now dark blond with caramel highlights, suits me I think..

Thanks all

I'm more more mousey with green eyes and sort of medium skin (quite rosey cheeks but not pale)

Hmmm - still none the wiser. Think I may stay blonde until after the wedding and then give it a try after [chicken emoticon]

Oh don't, and well if you do then do a 'wash out after 6-8 washes' jobby.

I did it last week as I was desperate for a change. I couldn't decide whether to go brunette or short.

I did a mid brown semi permanent and looked hideous, awful, haggared, pale and nauseous.

Thank God it has nearly all washed out.

So now I am short and I love it

It's do-able. blonde to brown I mean, but going back is very difficult. You don'tget the same 'lift' on coloured hair as you do on natural and you end up with a line where the shades differ. I wouldn't if I were you, you may love it initially but will that will wear off.

I speak from experience

i had a lovely blonde colour acheived by years of highlites at a very expensive salon then for some reason 3 weeks before i had my baby i went to a salon and went brunette it lasted four months then went back blonde but never quite the same, those pregnancy hormones have a lot to answer for.

My opinion on hair is: there are very few styles and colours that suit each person, so however boring you feel with your hair, leave it alone if it's nice and suits you. I have had very blonde hair, with a fringe/side fringe and a few layers, longish length for a few years now and the reason i havent changed isn't cos i'm boring, but cos i know what suits me.

I'd stick to being a blondie Tilly's Mum... more fun
