Just seen them on Mary Queen Of Shops.

I have a black dress and would love some pink tights, bright pink!

Yey or ney?

My mums mate did the black dress and purple tights thing a few weeks ago and looked amazing!

What do you think?

Mine is a light-knit V-neck dress, just above knee in black.

I think you'd have to be super groomed or look emo/goth.

llareggub Mon 07-Jul-08 21:53:21

So decent shoes with heel. I'm thinking it is a look best worn by Kirstie Allsopp.

DirtySexyMummy Mon 07-Jul-08 21:54:18

Yes. Have loads, wear them all the time.

llareggub - any self-respecting emo or goth would not be seen dead in them!

What about those stripy tighted people, then? The ones with big boots? Are they not goth/emo types?

<shows complete ignorance of teen-tribes as 30-something mother of toddler in middle england>

daftpunk Mon 07-Jul-08 21:58:42

yeah, go for it! think it looks great.

daftpunk Mon 07-Jul-08 22:00:25

stripy tighted grin

LynetteScavo Mon 07-Jul-08 22:01:39

Don't do it.

I mean, I have lots of bright tights. They distract, like bright red lipstick, from various.. anomalies.

suwoo Mon 07-Jul-08 22:02:35

Wore bright tights all last winter and the one before that, are they not 'out' now? Hope not, would love to re-visit them this winter. (Bear in mind, Queen of shops was filmed last winter wink)

Litterbug Mon 07-Jul-08 22:02:39

I think Im young and 'hip' ( grin ) enough to pull it off!

daftpunk Mon 07-Jul-08 22:10:06

yeah but suwoo, being cool and hip isn't always about being a slave to fashion

<carry's on ironing tanktop and tartan flares>

onebatmother Mon 07-Jul-08 22:14:18

hear hear daftpunk, if the pages of Grazia are anything to go by.

Fashion is very provincial, imo wink

<<heartened by OBM's insightful notion that bright tights or lipstick may detract from other bodily anomalies, such as uncanny resemblance to Venus of Willendorff.>>

Should one wear bright tights and lipstick, or would that be de trop?

LisaLessLumpy Tue 08-Jul-08 10:30:49

Gok uses bright tights quite a lot doesn't he? I think it would look cool. What shoes do you have to wear with them?

onebatmother Tue 08-Jul-08 13:29:56

I follow the rule, madbad, that all extremities should endeavour to distract from the anomalies of the trunk area.
So, moving from north, to south:

ginger quiff
vast timmy mallet spectacles (electric blue)
red lipstick
Bin Laden beard
Thai Temple-dancer's fingernails
bright, bright tights

Can look fun & good if done with confidence, esp in autumn/winter. With simple grey, brown or black jumper dress, yum.

I like the American Apparel ones. They're almost like dancer leotards & give me Fame vibes grin.

<<distracted by nostalgic thoughts of the kids (now, alas, middle-aged) from Fame>>

<<would fancy Leroy even more now, if indeed that were possible>>

MadBadandDangeroustoKnow Wed 09-Jul-08 13:10:04

<<Always liked Bruno (rather susceptible at the time to sensitive, curly-haired piano-playing types) although I concede that Leroy was probably the more beautiful. Very sad to have found this about Gene Anthony Ray>>

h&m are good for groovy tights

if you are titchy try the kids section too

but adults should do some

and reasonably priced too not like topshop - £12!!! for 1 pair!!!

methinks not grr

maidamess Wed 09-Jul-08 13:19:00

Yes I had a purple pair last winter. They probably will be in again this autumn/winter too. I wouldn't wear them in the summer. I prefer the deathly pallor of my real legs.
