A friend has asked for perfume for her birthday. We've got a budget of £30.
She's mid-50's - any ideas???

Do you know what kind of smells she likes? Fruity, spicy, floral?

All she said was something strong as her sense of smell isn't great!! Glad I don't work with her!!! I'd prefer not to get something too whiffy - I'd probably go with fruity or spicy!

I wondered what the Philosophy Grace ones were like? Anyone know?

Can you get Água de Sevilla in the U.K.? I’ve just discovered it and I’m obsessed. It’s fruity and spicy, lots of orange blossom. I find it very uplifting. Mine came in a pretty gift box with an additional little travel bottle.

Giorgio Beverley Hills very nice, can smell it all day, got mine from Superdrug £18.99.
Also Roberto Cavalli, beautiful scent, very good price online, under £30.00.

I’d second Zara, I’ve picked up everyday scents there. As good as many more expensive ones.

I swear by Shay and Blue Black Tulip. I get lots of compliments when I wear it and it's in your price point. It's quite powerful, but dries down into a delicious floral/gourmand chocolatey scent.
You mentioned the Philosophy Grace range-I find they are clean, soapy, gentle, subtle scents.

Very very light and gentle. Not for someone who wants strong.
I'm in that age group and wouldn't want fruity (we call them pink mingers on the Perfumista threads) unless it's summer citrus, which again wouldn't be strong.
Atelier Cologne do a brilliant discovery set which iirc is in your price range. You get a load of 2ml samples, all beautifully packaged, with a postcard explaining each one. There were about 20 iirc, which makes them really good value from a high quality house. There's the whole gamut of notes, from summery citrussy orange, to spicy ouds.
