Bags to die for (or just save up for)

My friend turned up for a night out with a gorgeous handbag. It was a Mulberry one. Lovely, but not quite the one I would like. But I don’t know what I would like.
She said she’s been wanting it for five years and been saving up.
So what bag should I save up for five years for?
Please show me the bags you’re lusting after, or possibly the ones you already own.

These are my dream bags. I have an & other stories Bottega Veneta dupe that I do love though…

Oooh, love a bag thread Grin
I have this YSL Loulou camera bag. It was a huge surprise from DH for a big birthday last year and was such a treat, I love it so much and use it nearly every day. The black hardware means it's not too in your face for daytime use but it's special enough for (rare!) nights out too.

Do you have any ideas of what you'd like?

Love the YSL bag above and if @givememarmite's husband wants to buy me one too I will gladly accept it!

APC prices are as much as I can justify spending on a bag for myself and even then I aim for the sales.

There's no bag I'd want enough to save up for 5 years to buy it! Grin

I have a few bags I love but this is my favourite and most used, bottega veneta padded cassette;

I love shopping but just can't get excited about bags. I mean, not two grand's worth of excitement.

Wish I could so am clicking on all the pics to see if they arouse some sort of lust in me, but... nothing!

I got one of these recently. I love that it's really versatile and comes in lots of different colours.

In terms of saving up, I asked for money for my birthday/Christmas etc and this really helped to increase the savings.

I'm the same. I like bags, but when I see the prices of these designer ones it puts me right off. The bottega veneta padded bag is really nice, but it's not £2,300 worth of nice.

My sister spent a fortune on a mulberry handbag a few years ago. She saved birthday money, Christmas money and some money each month until she could buy one from Bicester. Then she filled it with her primark purse and makeup bag, hairbrush from the pound shop, cheap sunglasses and tesco brolly. She wanted it, so fair enough, but it did make me chuckle a bit.

I've always wanted to have a bag I love, but like PPs, I've never been able to get excited about them. I did love two bags I bought in Hong Kong cause they were very soft leather, complete with "genuine fake" designer labels, but they were something like £25 for the two.

I won a Fendi bag a few years ago, worth £1300 at the time. It's lovely but it's a bit big and...stiff (sorry, tried to think of another adjective so it didn't sound so bad!). It now lives in its dust bag, inside the original box on a shelf in my room. I can't sell it, cause I'll never have something like it again, but I'm not a posh bag kind of person

I refuse to pay more than £1,000 for a bag. The one I use most is a very plain Margaret Howell satchel.

@Darkchocolateandcoffee I love bags but wouldn’t pay that much. There are some lovely bags up to the £700/800 mark.

Yes agree @bendmeoverbackwards and even half that price.

I was given a cream Ferragamo bag once (a freebie given to DH) but sold it on eBay as it was totally impractical plus I appreciated the money more to buy other stuff.

These are some lovely bags on here, but I agree, a £2000 bag?
They do look lovely though.
I would like a soft leather bag but also one that doesn’t just flop. My friend’s Mulberry one was too stiff looking for me.
I think I would consider up to £1000 (now I’ve typed that, it seems ridiculous!).

I really like the Loulou camera bag, except probably without the logo on it.
I know that is missing the point somewhat.

What I do like about Mulberrys is that the logo is understated.

I love this YSL with the dark hardware. The logo is not too in-your-face. I just love it. Been looking at it for ages. I'm saving. Yes it's extravgant, but lots of things are extravagant. Fancy cars for example. I don't see the need, and I don't have the want. Others do. This bag is my 'thing'. Not that I need to explain myself, but I'm otherwise a fairly frugal shopper.
