waterproof trousers

I have an old pair from Peter Storm.
They are not really waterproof, more like showerproof and very unflattering as they are so wide in the leg. They are also too long (I'm only 5ft 2)

I'd like navy rather than black if possible but that's not a deal breaker.

Does anyone have any recommendations please? There are tons on line I know but what's good and what's not?

TIA

I like Craghoppers, not cheap but very good.

Acai are good. Expensive but good.

I've got some from Decathlon that are half lined for winter. Navy and very comfy.

I recently bought a pair from Aldi (they are called over trousers in case you search). They are slim in the leg and were only £12.99. Although they are fairly long they have Velcro at the bottom so you can stop yourself tripping over them.

Thank you all. I'm going to check out of the options mentioend.

Oneglassandpuzzled, Are the Acai ones water proof or just water repellent in your opinion? I've clicked on the waterproof question on their website but it's not taking me to an answer Confused

@Happytodayhappytomorrow read some of the reviews on the Acai website. Most people saying they're showerproof but also very quick drying. I've been hankering after a pair myself.

I like Trespass myself as "decent" but not as expensive as some. It depends how much you'll wear them. If it's everyday in winter, buy the best you can possibly afford.

Beghaus goretex. They do them in a short length.

Apart from walking I've used mine a lot for doing volunteering work clearing brambles etc in pouring rain. Totally waterproof and tough.

This. I have worn them outdoors helping at a covid clinic throughout the entire winter and spring: rain, sleet and snow. They feel slightly wet to the finger touch but I don't feel the wetness on my skin, if that makes sense. Then they dry very quickly.

I have a thermal pair as well for winter and they saved me from some really horrible cold nights.
