1920s themed party - could I wear this?

I would like to buy something that I can wear again and just accessorise for the party....would this work or would I look out of place if everyone was in sequinned flapper dressers?

Any other ideas for a simple dress I could use again?

The first one I think could work as a 1920s look with long beads and a headpiece. The second one looks more 1930s to me, but honestly, will anyone mind all that much if your outfit isn't 100% accurate? If it was me I'd just pick my favourite, make a token effort with accessories and enjoy the night!

The first one is gorgeous, the fabric looks like it would be appropriate for fancy and also an evening out.

I think the second one looks quite modern. The first one could work, although it does look more 30s than 20s. I wouldn't worry too much, though - it does look quite vintage.

20s evening dresses were usually sleeveless, so you would look even more authentic if you found a sleeveless one.

I think you could make both work with the right accessories. The first especially, but both of those are gorgeous dresses!

Call me a tight arse but I wouldn't be paying that kind of money for a themed party outfit
Try ebay maybe?

The ghost one yes yes yes! It's gorgeous! I'd pair it with a very fancy headpiece but no necklace. It doesn't need it with all the buttons and the shape of it. A good vintage hairstyle and a deep red/burgundy lip.

Maybe something like this?

They look a bit 30s to me. I always associate 20s evening gowns with sequined lace, dropped waistlines and handkerchief hems.

Those aren’t particularly 20s to me.

How about these? All from Izabel Lonson.

Your first green dress is gorgeous. And i agree with the pp saying just a fancy head peice! I think some of the others linked to on here are cute but obvious whereas your dress looks sophisticated.

I’ve been rumbled .... I know/suspect that they are more 30s....

I just love that peacock headpiece @Godmothered

I don’t want my arms out! Or my legs - I am v hourglass ..... and the “athletic” straight, dropped waist flapper dress does absolutely nothing for me....

The Ghost dress definitely looks more 30s to me - it's the bias cut. But does it really matter? It's lovely and, if you're rumbled you can just say you were a fashion forward 20s gal.
I'm not as keen on the second one.

Would a gold choker / long back necklace (alongside the peacock headdress) swing it?

Bit like this but longer / single strand IYKWIM...

Both the first dresses are late thirties in shape, nothing like a twenties silhouette.
You need a drop waisted dress, something slender but straight up and down, not ankle length or above the knee.

I don't think it needs it but it would make it look a little more 20's and it's cute!

The issue with 20's theme parties is most of the costumes on the market for that kind of thing are cheap fancy dress costumes and a bit naff. I think your options are very lovely and very classy.

The flapper shape does me no favours - and I am not a fan of sequins and beading ..... maybe I will present as fashion forward! I have long red hair (best and only feature) - so the green will work well - but I will have to think about how to do it as the flat / tight to the head flapper look looks from grim on me!

Or is this more 20s? Either in this rose pink or the champagne?

The first green dress is gorgeous. Not 100% 1920s, but beautiful and easily accessorised into a suitable outfit.

Can I also add: hourglass figure, long red hair, gorgeous slinky dress....no one will care that it's isn't an authentic outfit, you'll look knock out!

Buy the dress, buy some beautiful accessories and have a fab time

The pink Ghost dress also looks more 30s to me. But again i
I think it's lovely. As another poster has said, a lot of fancy dress 20's costumes aren't particularly nice so, unless it's important that you wear something authentic, I think it makes more sense to pick something you feel good in and that you'll wear again.

Even day dresses were dropped waist, etc in the 20s.

I'm an hour glass shape, and certainly don't suit the 20's flapper dresses either! I'd get the green ghost dress- but only if you'd wear it again?

I bought something similar for a 20's party- a silky, longer, slinky dress, but from a charity shop. I actually think it was a nightdress, but with a faux fur stole, head dress, blonde bob wig and one of those giant, long cigarette holders, I looked the part.
