Gorgeous maxi skirts/dresses - recommendations please!

So, I have been on the hunt for YEARS for the perfect maxi skirt, or even dress. I hate my legs, and never get them out, so it needs to be long with no slits up the sides. I’m also a pear shape so needs something that won’t emphasise my hips and bottom 🙈
I’d love to find something super comfy, that I can wear for eg school pick up without feeling self conscious about being out of the jeans I usually live in. Would also be thrilled to find some smarter skirts too.
Thanks so much for any suggestions or advice!!

M&S sometimes does gorgeous maxi and midi skirts / dresses but their fashion is so hit and miss - like they have trendy clothes for a week then scare themselves and go back to normal. I'm only 5'1 and I was able to get a petite maxi skirt which was amazing as normally they trail the floor for me!!

One of my colleagues has a lovely pleated skirt from Uniqlo and I have a similar one from Me & Em. Although we are both quite short so maxi on us might be slightly shorter on you!

Also have you considered trying something like stitch fix? You can ask them specifically to find you something to suit your shape, if you don't like what they send, send it back!

I’ve never heard of stitch fix! Will google…
Should have said that I’m 5”8 and size 12/14 😁

I bought this skirt the other day but it’s too long for me so it’s going back. It’s lovely and lightweight though, so it’s a real shame.

@TheFairyCaravan that’s lovely! Is it lined?

What about finding a local dressmaker? Once he/she has made the pattern fit you could get it made up in different fabrics.

Ok, so I'm 5ft tall so maxi on me is midi on you! You should look for Scandinavian or Danish brands 😊

Zara has a solid selection of 100% cotton maxi skirts this summer. I have bought most of them.

Marks is a good call, they have some excellent collaborations right now with Ghost and Nobodyś Child.

The latter have done some very on trend maxis with a square neck and full, light sleeves. Emphasising the neckline draws attention from the hips, and the style balances them out a bit (tend to have a slit though). They have sold out of the one I bought for about 20 pounds.

I quite like this www.nobodyschild.com/clothing/dresses/midi-dresses/black-isla-broderie-midi-dress.html

Ghost have some lovely matching dresses for mother and child.

I am always on the look out for a maxi or midi dress with a fitted top half, so almost like a skater dress type fit but long! Does that make sense ? That style is just way more flattering on me

I do have a lovely one, I got it from a really cheap shop called "Select" a few years ago but it's getting old now 😔 .

If anyone has any suggestions let me know

Another vote for Zara, I'm not sure what's in at the moment, but I've got some fantastic cotton maxi skirts from them previously.

Very simple design, no pattern or frills, but comfortable and has POCKETS. Comes in a few different colours. www.roman.co.uk/gathered-skirt-maxi-dress-14065060

I tried this recently. It's fitted at the top and then floaty. The colour wasn't for me but I think it's the sort of thing you're looking for.

I love that Roman Originals one. I have just bought a lovely maxi dress from Seasalt. It isn't on their website though.

I love some of the Holy Clothing maxi dresses, not their cosplay/historical styles.

These though I love:

I am wearing this now, so comfy and lightweight, perfect in this weather.
