Do you genuinely notice a difference? I’m just about to start my second month. I’m alternating now with P50 (so one every other evening) and my skin feels lovely and smooth but I wondered will I actually ever SEE a difference rather than my skin just feel nicer? Do I need to be using it every day for that or am I ok to carry on as I am? Thanks!

I've been using it since January and my skin is looking great. I use it most evenings (sometimes I forget)

It took about 8 weeks before I could see (small!) differences but after 12 weeks the difference was really noticeable and a few friends and family commented on how good my skin was looking. Amazingly, my eyes seemed to suddenly become less hooded!

Where do you get it from? I’ve been thinking about trying it.

I've been on retirides, its retin A from spain for two years, my face do feel smooth, not sure if my wrinkles are any less, but I did have a age/sun spot the size of a five pence peice on my cheek which have gone, but that could be the vitamin c I use as well. I will keep using it as it gets good reviews, there is plenty of professional doctors on YouTube who gives good advice. A dr dray is one.

Hot and Flashy has updates on how her skin has improved over the years.

You need to use it for at least 4 months to see a difference.

I'm 48 and have been using it for at least 8 years. I do have some fine lines around my eyes but otherwise I think it's reversed or at least held back some ageing and my skin looks smooth. I buy retirides as well.

When I stared on the retinol, my first one was the ordinary it was around 3 years ago, then I found you could buy retinol A from most chemists in Spain for a fraction of the price around 15/ 20 euros so have brought from there each time on holiday, getting low now for obvious reasons, at the same time I stared using retin, I used alfa h liquid gold and vitamin c, it could be the combination of these three that took my brown spot away, so will carry on using them.

I've been using it for about 6 years now, I think. I'm 44 and do think my skin is in very good nick. I didn't have any lines to erase when I started and no lines have appeared. I'm pretty scrupulous about SPF though.

I bought some but I find I can't sleep properly because my face is tingling and itching so much, any tips?

How long have you been using it and what strength are you on?

My tips to anyone starting would be:

Start on the lowest strength
Don’t apply every night. Try two/three times a week and build up slowly.
To avoid irritation you should apply only a pea sized amount over your entire face.
Do not apply immediately after washing your face, you should ideally wait 20 mins. (Tret applied to even slightly damp skin is more likely to irritate)

I've been using it a couple of years. Although it's more likely to have an effect than many of the lotions and potions you can buy, I think how much difference it ultimately makes kind of depends on your genes - plenty of people on here say they have great skin with just soap and water.

Personally I have very problematic skin and use it partly for acne control. It makes your skin very thin and also strips it, in the end, of all pigmentation. So I've lost all my freckles and can look a bit pale and washed out and maybe older, swings and roundabouts I guess!

Agree with PP's tips but would also add:
Retirides is quite a harsh formula, there are gentler formulas available
You can buffer with moisturiser before and after. Especially around the eyes and lips
It's better to try and get up to every night (go through the pain) rather than being too timid and never quite getting your skin used to it

I have RetiRides from Spain as well. I've had for a while (it's past its date now, but it does last a while). I don't use it that often and haven't seen any improvement. I suppose it only works if you use it very regularly.

I'm 49 and have used it for 18 months now and the difference is amazing! My skin is looking the loveliest it's ever looked - fine lines have definitely reduced/disappeared, deeper lines have softened, acne scarring has disappeared and some darker pigment from sun damage has also disappeared.

It took a while to notice a difference in all these areas. The immediate difference was a great glow and refined pores. Now it's like totally different skin. I'd always get horrible spots at time of the month and I've not had a single one either.

I use the Dermatica prescription strength at £20 month and it's the best money I've spent on my face. I use the leftovers each month on my hands and they've also improved!

EineReiseDurchDieZeit Wed 05-May-21 17:35:46

Another using Dermatica and completely chuffed, huge difference especially in my pores (Tret Plus Niacimide)

troppibambini6 Wed 05-May-21 17:43:38

Yep I've used it for around a year now and can definitely see a difference.

MoltonSilver Wed 05-May-21 18:54:38

It took months to see a difference and well over a year for my sun spots to fade away. They got worse before they got better. Using it every day won't speed things up but it might make your face kind of raw and shiney. Not a good look.

3peassuit Wed 05-May-21 18:56:05

I’ve been using for over 20 years. I can’t recommend this stuff enough. Using it will pay dividends in years to come.

QueenPaw Wed 05-May-21 19:32:37

Solved my hormonal acne and cleared the sebaceous filaments on my nose
Think my skin looks decent now

OshKo Wed 05-May-21 20:30:53

@3peassuit wow 20 years! How I have I only heard of it recently?! Can I ask how you use it/how often etc to get the benefits? Thank you!

@QueenPaw your skin looks great! Is that with no make up? How long have you been using it please and what’s your routine?

QueenPaw Wed 05-May-21 20:36:05

@OshKo yep, just got out of bed, took it this morning (hence the hair piled on head!) and I'm 37

Am
Boots botanics all bright cleanser
Sometimes vitamin c, or another serum
Moisturiser
SPF

PM
eye makeup remover
Balm or oil cleanser
Mist
Skin and me (on dry skin)
Moisturiser (a bit after my skin and me)

I have two nights a week where I skip skin and me and use acids or just hydrating stuff instead

3peassuit Wed 05-May-21 21:37:49

OshKo, I use it 4 days on 1day off. I currently use .5 from Dermatica. I never go out without factor 50spf.
It does take a little time to see benefits but in my case at least, it does reap rewards.

I like the sound of what I'm reading but have no idea what Tret is?
