Tapered jeans outfit

I have just purchased some tapered jeans, they are lovely and plan to wear them rolled up slightly. But... what do I wear with them?! I am so used to wearing skinny jeans I have no idea how to dress any other style of jean!

I like favour bodies as they give a sleek tucked in look. I really like long sleeved backless/cut out back ones, and ones with square necklines. As the weather improves I might start wearing crop tops, and/or shirts knotted at the waist.

I find belts important with highlighting waist and finishing a look, I didn't bother with belts when I wore skinnies.

Heeled ankle boots can look really good, but for the most part I wear my trainers.

All these things sound awful! You totally don't need anything as old fashioned or unstylish as bodies, cropped anything or tied shirts, OP. GrinConfusedAnything goes! Eg a Breton, knitted jumper, check shirt, silk shirt, or boxy cardi, t shirt etc... whatever you like wearing... but make sure they're either waist length or just slightly below, or tucked in a bit... plus trainers or loafers? Sandals when it's warmer... basically anything you like. That post makes it sound like a science from the 1980s!

I too have to wear a fitted t-shirt tucked in or a body as other wise I look bigger than I am if I wear a top over the top... My jeans are pretty high waisted though so there is a fair bit of fabric at the top

This is all similar to what I wear. Not sure why the PP thinks it's old fashioned - it's very much what's in fashion now! You can also wear plain t shirts/tops too but generally they need to be slim fitting / look good tucked in. I also wear big jumpers with mine but make sure to french tuck. Basically you just need something that lets you highlight your waist.

@Alez, same - I would wear a lot of the tops that @SummaLuvin suggested. As would my friends - we’re early 30s. I’m not sure what @ILoveLeedsMoreThanLeads is on about.

Haha thanks @Salanda and @Alez I am mid twenties and definitely don’t think my style is old fashioned and awful, I hope not anyway!! Maybe that PP has a different body type to me and finds those things don’t suit her?

I am hippy with a small waist, so a high-waisted, tapered cut is my favourite. I usually tuck things in, or wear slightly cropped (like on the waist band, not flashing my stomach) tops. Right now I am wearing a lot of tucked in t-shirts with slightly boxy cardigans. Feet-wise I wear trainers (Stan Smith, Veja, Continental 80) or DM monkey boots. I am not a heel person though. I absolutely hate belts so never wear one.

Your style is definitely in fashion, perhaps that poster is like me and just remembers wearing these in the 90s! God I wish I had the figure for a bodysuit!!!

I’m wearing blouses with tapered jeans and just make sure the blouse is tucked in and I have a nice belt on.

Thanks for the recommendations

I like bodies but I have a very long torso so they don't work for me unfortunately. I like the idea of a shirt/blouse tucked in.

@SummaLuvin, I think your suggestions sound fab! 👌🏼 Where do you buy your bodysuits from?
