Hello!
I’m 44 and have below shoulder length hair. Just had it cut really nicely which is great. I’ve been using light brown box dyes over lockdown and tbh much prefer it to the stripey highlights I’ve had in the past.
The hairdressers I went to do was a really good one and spoke to me about having balayage. The initial payment would be £150 and then £45 every 8 weeks to have the tint touched up.
It sounds great but I’m worried about the cost and wondering whether to just carry on with my £4 box dye and decent cut.
But I’m worried about ending up like a lady I remember when I was a child who dyed her hair with a box colour until her 70’s and looked awful!
When should I take the plunge and start to go lighter? I liked the idea of balayage as i could gradually get lighter if I needed to.
On the other hand - I like being a brunette and don’t want to go blonde but what choice do I have over the coming years with greys?
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
