Improving curly/wavy hair

I'm looking for a gadget that would give me a more consistent look.
My hair is wavy mostly but can curl. I've tried curly girl and more or less follow it but I hate that it's so random. I can't guarantee my hair will look OK if I need it to
The top layer frizzes easily
I considered the babyliss big hair to smooth the top layer but think it will drag it down too much
Has anyone used a gadget that will smooth without destroying the curl/wave?

I have wavy/curly hair which is much improved when I dry using my Dyson hairdryer and diffuser.

I have have the Dyson Airwrap which is fab when I want a more groomed look but still want curls. I use the small round barrels to smooth and create curls.

The babyliss big hair is great for smoothing top layers. Then you can address curl back in with rollers or something similar. Try to get the big hair from somewhere you can return it to if not keen. I love mine, and it makes my frizz prone hair sleek and shiny 😊

Is the babvylis big hair used on wet or dry hair?
My hair is usually OK on wash day, it is the next day I get frizz, so I need something I can use on dry hair

have you tried the denman brush. game changers for me though I am properly curly with 3c hair (as opposed to wavy).

it really helps my definition. much less frizz. curls stay in shape longer. I get 4-5 daS between washes instead of 3.

My hair is randomly wavy and cg just doesn't work for me. I've realised that it looks best when I plait my hair after washing and leave it overnight. I put mine in two plaits as it's short.

Rather than a gadget, have you considered a keratin blow-dry? That will get rid of the frizz.

The denman brush works for the first day but doesn't prevent the next day frizz
I thought keratin blow dries were for straight hair?

Dry normally, then pin it up, when you take it down the curl should have re-asserted itself and you'll have lovely polished waves

Comb through conditioner when washing, hair mask once a week. Finish rinse with cold water, finish drying with cool air.

Wow dreamcoat supernatural is also great for dealing with any frizz.

I have similar sounding hair, mostly wavy but can curl, it is thick too and prone to frizz.

After years of air drying, I switched to using the Revlon One Step about a year ago.

I am SO MUCH happier with my hair, it gets a professional looking blow-dry the first day, then usually after I sleep on it, it gets some soft waves but stays smooth. I can usually get 3-4 days from one styling, so I do it twice a week.

If I want more waves I can use a tong for 10 mins to add them.

I love have swishy smooth hair after so many years of frizz!

I have this exact type of hair. Game changer arrived in form of a Panasonic nanoe hairdryer. Bought it at Boots, approx £60 on offer; full price was nearer £85 I think but there are a few similar that are coming down in price.
This, along with an Elvive Extraordinary oil heat protector/anti frizz serum, has been a game changer. Frizz and top of head frizz reduced by about 90%. Two seconds whizz on top with straighteners when dried, if I’m going for a salon finish.
Also, if I wash and dry the night before, since using this hairdryer, I find it removes frizz even further and my hair is sleeker and straighter after sleeping on it.
Definitely get one if you can run to the cost. If not; just get the serum and dry your hair before sleeping on it, to see if that helps.
My DD swears by the silk pillowcase method too but I’ve not tried.

Why would a dry cut improve anything? Intrigued...I thought that was supposed to be bad for your hair?

Pro curly hairdressers always do a dry cut so that they can cut the curl in the right place. And the best ones do a curl by curl cut.

Yes to the dry cut; I far prefer how my hair falls after a dry cut.

No it isn't just for straight hair. My hair is naturally curly and it relaxes the curl and takes away all of the frizz. It doesn't make my hair straight and I wouldn't want it to. I can let my hair air dry and it looks great. The problem is that most hair gadgets are a faff and damage hair...

I honestly think the frizz just goes hand in hand with the hair type you describe. I have similar and it looks great on day one but then gets frizzier as the week progresses. I wash around every four days, but I’ve embraced the bed head look so I’m not bothered. My style is kind of bohemian anyway.

My routine is using a good mousse and Boots curl cream then diffusing with a decent hairdryer.

I had loads of nectar points so I've ordered the Panasonic nanoe. I do have enough left for the big hair but it's the potential for a 'polished finish that concerns me
