Talk to me about The White Company clothing

It’s very pricey (for me at least) but how is the quality? I’ve seen a couple of lovely dresses for spring which look right up my street style-wise (loose and minimalist) and the styling is lovely but are they just money for nothing (much)? I’m happy to pay more for fewer items if the quality is good and if the fabric (cotton/linen) is ethically sourced.

Love the few White Company pieces I have, but never pay full price. There are always discount codes available.

Also be prepared for a nightmare if trying to buy online. I have had parcels sent to the wrong address, orders delayed and horrendous problems obtaining a refund for items that I have returned. Their Customer service is almost non existent. The last refund necessitated nine emails and took weeks.

I have now decided I will only ever buy instore.

The clothes are quite unbelievably bland ...

Fifteen years ago they were still the go to place for a gift for someone older than oneself. Whether you were fifteen or fifty they exemplified genteel good taste ... And the clothes were still interesting enough to be worth a look.

Now ... I saw one black dress that looked possible-ish. The rest was just colourless, shapeless, directionless fabric. I can't comment on their ethical or environmental provenance.

Up to you, OP - but you'd be paying to be made invisible ...

I usually buy their roll top yoga pants but they seem to have changed the fabric and the last pair seemed thinner.

Agree on the poor customer service. My refund took ages to be processed, loads of emails and live chats and took about 4 weeks.

I still like their candles.

Yeah, their CS is awful. Their towels and some of their bedlinen are still good, but I have never rated their clothes. They aim for an understated, drapey look, but that needs well-cut clothes not to look like a bag lady. And theirs aren't well-cut.

My experience was they were excellent before they switch their label to 'The White Label'. Since then the shape of the clothes has changed and the quality of the material has plummeted too. Such a shame as they were worth it.

Now I pick up items on eBay and even though they are yonks old the quality of the original label means they rarely look worn - even when the labels are faded.

I have not found a replacement - would love to hear if anyone has.

Agree their customer service is awful, refunds online take forever etc.
I’ve shopped there for clothes for years and still find it good quality but not as good quality as a decade ago. Back then it was indestructible jersey dresses and perfect cotton/wool blend jumpers.
Now they try to dilute the mix with cheaper fabrics.
I still but from there as the styling really suits me, but tend to buy more in the sales

See, I've never had an issue with them, so like many online stores, guess there's risks.
But the clothes, whilst overpriced, it definitely matches my aesthetic and the items I have purchased over the years have been great, apart from one dress, which I sent back, no problems.

However, I do notice in their product reviews, the occasional buyer says their item never arrived, or they were sent the wrong product. How this stacks up statistically I have no idea. Worth checking their social media?

I have pyjamas and household items which are fabulous and worth every penny, especially if you manage to grab them with a reduction. I think the tees are nice, there's plenty organic cotton, and the accessories are pretty. There are some mixed fibres in many knits, and polyester seems more common in bliss than silk or linen overall, but still worth a mooch.

Ive had worse experiences with Jigsaw, Whistles and Reiss for quality, take from that what you will.

more common in 'blouses' than silk

I've had terrible problems with deliveries and refunds also. 2 orders and both went wrong, took weeks and weeks to get it sorted.
Wouldn't buy from them again.

I used the love WC clothes. They were a bit pricey but really well made and flattering shapes.
Now they're a bit pricey, thin and totally shapeless.
CS is also a bit rubbish. Don't know if it's Covid related but it's gone rapidly downhill - almost as much as the quality of the clothes ....

I have a knit tunic and a denim jacket that are great, but I had some jeans that were awful, gor really baggy in weird places throughout the day.

Just note with the white company to return online you have to pay for returns or return in store for free. I used myhermes last time and I think it’s a set cost of £2.50. Luckily there is a print service near me so I printed off the label there. If you use the post office or another company you pay there costs to return

Agree they have gone to shit. Very poor quality for the price.
