anyone seen any really lovely ones. I am quite pale. 50yrs now and just want something that is a bit smarter than a waterproof winter jacket.

Have seen some lovely belted ones but always out of stock in a 12 or M. Just want something to brighten up my wardrobe :)

Hobbs had a lovely one last year. I would have bought it but at my local branch the shop assistants made the ones at Lush seem timid.

This red coat from M & S is smart, and in a 12. It's not 100% wool though. I think it's pretty nice for them.

The M&S one is really nice and a great price.
A lot of their stuff is nice.

think I might have to go and look at both once shops open again. The M&S is a good price. But I love the look of the Hobbs one :)

The M&S one is 13% wool! I think if you tried them both you would feel the quality of the Hobbs one. Wool lasts longer, is warmer and should be a bit water resistant too.

I had a lovely red wool pea coat from Debenhams years ago. Sadly it was size 10, and was well worn so went bobbly on the handbag/laptop bag side. I am also no longer size 10. I miss that coat and if I could buy again (in a 12!) I would. Watching thread with interest

I've had several Hobbs coats and the quality of the fabric is beautiful.

I think 50 must be the peak age of MNers these days ( me too). I was going to say at our age it's about investing in good quality clothes to last but reading it back it sounds both privileged and boring! The main thing will be to get the style and fit that really suits you and the right shade of red, if you are spending a lot, you want to love it for ever.

I’ve got some Hobbs coats and really rate the quality (IMO the coats are better than their other stuff).

I had a red wool coat, thought it lovely, but it made me look like Mrs Claus, complete with large tummy. I donated it 😟

Oh god I shouldn't say this now I'm thinking of that 70s film Don't Look Now with the little girl in the red wool coat
