If you wish you were lighter, what- if anything, would you wear that you don't wear at your current weight?

I am trying to lose some weight after gaining some over the past couple of years. I normally have a bit of a belly, even when I'm slimmer (my mum is the same), but this diminishes when I am lighter. Because of this belly I never wear tops that end at my waist because I'm self conscious. Now I'm slowly losing weight I'm looking forward to doing the 'French tuck' and wearing belts (no points in wearing them now with long tops above them).

I will also wear solid-colour dresses and figure-hugging t-shirts.

Yes I know the above may be shallow but that's how I feel.

If you wish you were lighter, would you wear different clothes as a slimmer version of yourself? If so, what?

I am not overweight but am small framed and carry flab around my stomach. If I lost around 7 pounds and toned up I’d wear a bikini more often. I’d also wear tighter/shorter t shirts/tops - current slight muffin top isn’t comfortable currently so I tend to wear looser longer things.

I can't do anything about it but I always wished I had prettier knees and slimmer legs so I could wear skirts and shorts Blush

My stomach is my issue so would also wear more fitted tops.

I’d love to have slim tanned legs that looked great in dresses and skirts. Alas, they are blue veined, spotty and covered in cellulite.

Oh - and jumpsuits!

Anything formal or tight fitting. Anything high necked (humongous boobs put the end to this).

I would love to wear body con but have reached that sack of potatoes age with saggy boobs and spare tire. Actually feeling so fed up with it

My weight fluctuates a bit and there are specific individual items that don't look good on me now but would if I dropped half a size. Not styles, but actual articles of clothing, like "my brown culottes" or "my black and pink checked dress." It's about the fit rather than a general perception that I can't wear "that sort of thing." The only thing I might possibly consider wearing if I was a lot thinner that I wouldn't wear now is something that showed a tiny bit of midriff, like a knotted shirt over jeans - not intentionally worn so short that there was a big gap, but not worrying if it showed when moving around. I think that would look a bit silly on me now. I have no desire to wear very clingy clothes, fat or thin - I'm more boho than glam.

I'm not a million miles off my 'ok' weight and generally look acceptable in clothes but OMFG my legs are hideous Shock. They sound similar to another poster's: veins, broken capillaries, cellulite, sturdy thighs and fat knees - I run so you'd think they would be all toned and smooth but even when I was doing marathon distances they weren't slim! I never show above the knee in public unless I absolutely have to ie beach/pool and would love to be able to wear shorts (especially short ones like this).

You just reminded me: I have a few pairs of shorts like those. I'll make it a goal to wear them again next summer!

Mine aren't really weight specific, as I'm happy with my overall size, it's more my shape/body composition.

If I didn't have so much lose skin on my stomach (pregnancy related) I would wear cropped tops with high waisted things, and not be constantly yanking it down.

If my legs and arse were more toned, I would wear shorter shorts! I have a friend who wears a lot of denim cutoffs with oversized shirts and she always looks fab.

I also have a black top with a 'shiny' front and I don't wear it because it highlights my tummy. Looking forward to wearing that again!

I'm only about 3lb up from my fighting weight (thanks, pandemic), so my clothes are fine, but it seems to have all gone on my face which is a massive pain. I know I need to just cut back the wine and crisps, but it is hard!

I've got to my ideal weight recently, having lost 15Kg in 2 different shifts over 3 years. It has made more difference than I ever imagined to how I feel and look. I have realised what skinny jeans are for! I would never have worn them before, but now I live in skinny jeans and tucked-in tops and I love it! I often wear these with a vest top or camisole with a shirt knotted over the top - would only ever have worn relaxed - fit jeans and untucked loose tops before.
I hang around in gym gear all day sometimes because it's actually comfy and looks good.
I will probably try dresses at some point just for the novelty, though I've only worn them for weddings before! But I have dodgy varicose veins - they feel much better since the weight loss, but still don't look good - so heavy-duty hosiery will be needed.
Downside : my boobs have disappeared. What motherhood did not finish off, weight loss has. So I now can't really wear my show-off-your-cleavage tops as I have none.

Yy to shorter tops, things that tuck in, and more fitted things in general. Oh and jackets. Also, classic smart slim-fit buttoned shirts - I'm assuming I'd lose weight off my boobs too, so that shirts didn't gape and would hang better on me.

Well done @Cornucopia55 ! Did you follow a specific diet? In any case it must feel so good to be able to wear what you like. I got to 7.7 at one point five years ago and I'd love to go back to that. I could throw anything on without worrying it would show anything I wasn't happy about. Unfortunately relationship-related stress got me eating and I went from a size 8 to a curvy 10. I'm on track to go back to an 8 and seeing the results is motivation enough to keep on watching what I eat.

I have a couple of block colour knitted, longish dresses that I stopped wearing because they showed every bump and made my bum look massive. I love them in winter though so I can't wait to wear them again.

Even if I lost weight I'd still be pear shaped as that's just my shape so I don't think it would open up more options for me. I suspect this is partly why I struggle to motivate myself to lose weight.

I'd wear sleeveless tops and anything fitted around the waist.

Re thread veins (the 'dolcelatte look' as my dear late mother loathingly called hers) I read somewhere that magnesium helps. It's best absorbed through the skin so I bought some mag spray from BetterYou (BetterMe? I can never remember) and now I spray that on my thighs after a shower. Worth a try, eh?

And I will be able to stop zipping up my coat up to my waist even if it's not cold - just to hide my tummy!

Oh, a dress. Any kind. Im very short and fat with hideous calves, so there is absolutely NO dress that suits me. I actually get very emotional thinking of how lovely it would be. Sad
