I recently turned 39 and am feeling really ‘urgh’. Looking for some suggestions/advice. What can I do with my hair? It’s quite long, about chest level and has a slight wave to it when left to dry naturally. I rarely wear it down as I feel like it just hangs there, it’s usually scraped back into a ponytail or bun. I fancy a cut/restyle but what? A bit clueless as to what might suit me. I’ve had really short hair (think pixie cut) in the past and it wasn’t a good look, all it did was emphasise my round face, so nothing too short. I also have 2DC, one 4 years and the other 3 months, so nothing that will require lots of effort in the mornings. I like the idea of maybe going lighter, a balayage perhaps? Any suggestions welcome x

You look lovely! Yes to blayage and maybe a fringe side swept? You have straight soft hair so the fringe shouldnt be hard to style and bangs give a dramatic and younger look without damaging hair with dramatic colour change or losing the length. A long side fringe is perfect to try in winter as you can plop a hat on if you dont feel like it or a headband which are so trendy now. I like your chocolately hair colour but and i reckon you'd suit reds and copper too.

I was expecting a picture of an ugly frump! You’re gorgeous and don’t need to change anything. I’d love hair with a bit of a wave.
If you’re after a change I thinks sweeping fringe would look lovely and a messier shoulder length blunt haircut.
Tbh if I were you and fancied a change or to feel more done I’d slap on some ruby woo from Mac and be done with it!
Ps you’ve got bloody lush eyebrows.

You have beautiful hair that I think (if it goes with your personal style) would really suit that loose, longish curtain fringe - sort of 70s style

I don't think you should colour your hair.. it's a beautiful shade of brown and really suits your colouring. Maybe a longish fringe would be good? I think that would suit you. You look lovely btw and not at all how you describe yourself!

You have a lovely heart shaped face and yes, definitely a fringe. A "curtain" fringe as somebody else mentioned. It will look fab when your hair is tied up too

I think you look lovely. The autumnal colours of your blouse look beautiful on you.

Agree, my first thought was that you would look great with a fringe and a few inches off the length.

You have lovely hair and I reckon you should keep the colour.

You look great and btw you really don't have a round face!

You look lovely . A rusty coloured lipstick is all you need . DO NOT COLOUR YOUR BEAUTIFUL HAIR!

I like your hair a lot...I think you would look good with heavier eye make up

You are beautiful! Hair colour is lovely, but I think you could look better if you changed the parting of your hair, as in make it a big side one . I also think your eyebrows are quite thin and aging. Maybe get them henna'd or similar to make them bigger and more current.

Do not colour your hair but do cut it and I agree a fringe would look nice.
Lose the nose ring.

Would you like it if it was more wavy? You could look into the curly girl method. There's a thread on here about it.

Your hair is lovely condition. Looks really healthy. I think some softer colours through it would be nice but get something low maintenance. I think it would look cool a bit shorter and wavy

Your eyebrows though 😍

I agree your hair colour is lovely dont go lighter.

Have you had botox? Im 29 and wish i had skin as tight and nice as yours.

Id probably just do the fridge and some new make up to make your eyes even prettier.

You look lovely and id never guess you was 39!

You look lovely. Really don’t colour your hair. I think the nose ring should go. And you need a lot more inner confidence and a bright smile. Nothing frumpy about you at all!

I think you look fantastic, OP. You don’t need to do anything drastic. As a PP suggested up thread, MAC Ruby woo would really suit your colouring and makes you feel fabulous! Maybe a lob if you really don’t like your hair? The soft waves and texture of your hair would suit it!

Balayage will add depth and movement to your hair. Agree slightly thicker eyebrows. Definitely lose the nose ring

A curtain fringe would really suit you and maybe an inch or two off the length. Red lipstick like others have suggested too would look great

We have a lot in common, I just turned 39, I have a soon-to-be 4 year old and had a baby during lockdown. I felt the same and went and got my hair cut and I hate it! I spent a fortune on it too! You look great already so my advice is don't go for big changes like I did! 🤗

Your hair colour is great. I wouldn't go much lighter with your skin tone, but a few inches off and a fringe would work wonders. Or if you are feeling a bit braver, a long bob would really suit you.

Sorry, but the nose ring needs to go.

And a big yes to red lipstick with your colouring.

I love the nose ring . I’d thicken your eyebrows a bit , chop 3-4 inches off your hair , get a nice bright lipstick something berry coloured , maybe a bit of balayage to give your hair some texture .

I actually wouldn't dick around with balayage and lightening. You have nice dark hair, keep it. I would go for a slightly edgier cut. I dont think those long locks seem to match your personality (I know I dont know you but just the vibe your photo gives off)

The biggest thing that jumps out at me is that you could pull off a much heavier makeup look - you have the right complexion and features for a strong lip colour or winged eyeliner.
