Start using Mumsnet PremiumBotox / Fillers - Worth it?
(15 Posts)In terms of recommendations- I used to go to the cosmetic skin clinic in Stoke Poges and would agree that they are very good. I now go to s-thetics in beaconsfield and would recommend them too - both clinics are excellent but at the cosmetic skin clinic they are so large and busy I felt a bit like I was on a conveyor belt churning people through whereas at s-thetics they spend a lot more time with you and it feels more personal. I see the clinical director at s-thetics who is a former nhs plastic surgeon- she’s fab and absolutely lovely too.
Botox totally worth it, I've had it for years and people always think I'm younger than my age
Fillers not so much, at £300 per syringe and I need 2-3 syringes, for the difference I see I just can't justify the cost
I notice way more improvement from Botox than fillers
Totally worth it - but with the caveat that it isn't so much about the botox or fillers - but the practitioner. So please do see a qualified doctor or dentist who has studied the physiology of the face. I've had botox on and off since I was 50 ( am in my 60s now ) and it always 'freshens up' my face and makes me look less tired and definitely less lined. I have breaks from it every so often (- like during lockdown ! ) - and I can always tell when it has worn off. As for fillers - the same applies. There is more room for error as filler lasts longer - ( botox lasts 4 to 6 months - fillers can last up to 18months) - but again, please do see someone who is experienced and qualified.
Agree with going to a dentist, as said they know where all facial nerves and blood vessels are
Agreed @Fleua that's how I fee
Can't deny, its fabulous- I don't spend money on facials any more, instead I save it for Botox, far more bang for your buck!
Depending on where you are in Berkshire The Cosmetic Skin Clinic in Stoke Poges is very good. Its actually just a slightly over the border into Bucks, but highly recommended.

Whilst predominantly a dentist, they have FAR more knowledge of facial muscles etc than a beauty therapist.
I've been going there 5 years and each time I'm never disappointed.
Urgh. Bold fail - hate MN on the phone! Sorry!
Thanks all!
‘yawnsvillex’ Can you please let me have your Berkshire recommendation?!
@yawnsvillex could you please share the name of your recommendation? TY
I'm almost 40 and I've had botox twice in the last year. It's really helped to smooth out forehead lines and my 11s in a very natural way.
Botox is amazing! Sorts out wrinkles.
I can recommend a place in Berkshire
No recommendations Berkshire way, but I do recommend Botox. Not too sure about fillers as it depends on how much plumpness you’ve lost through aging. I’m 39 and feel plump enough at this stage. Probably better to invest in treatments that help skin regenerate itself.
Botox I always thought was a preventive measure and should be started quite young to stop wrinkles forming. Once they have formed it's a bit too late
Hello MN
So I’ve hit 40, and have been contemplating Botox for a while now.
Not for a drastic change, but more to smooth out a couple of lines. Are they worth it? If so, any recommendations Berkshire way?
Thanks
