Sheer or nude tights - yes or no?

I have got a dinner to go to on Saturday night and will be wearing a fairly fitted green dress, it has a slight A-line to it.

What do I do about my legs though? If I wear nude or black heels, do I wear nude or sheer tights? The last time I wore nude tights, my legs looked chunky and pale, like 2 maggots hanging out of the bottom of my skirt! Grin

I could fake tan them thought it is chilly to go out with bare legs at the moment. However, is it a case of style over comfort??

What would you lovely lot advise please?

Oh, and my nude tights were from Asda, so maybe there's nude and there's nude.

8 or 10 dernier sheer ones ok anything higher and its a no. Tan your legs if you want more colour coverage over choosing darker tights. You just want that glossy polished look from the tights. You can use make up to hide blemishes if you like. Darker 'nude' or higher dernier look very old granny.

do you have a picture of the dress and shoe options?

For sure not all nudes are created equal. Nude for darker skin isnt like nude for a pale skin.

Sorry everyone, I have just seen your messages. I'm not sure how to get notifications so thank you for replying.
I wore the green dress with nude shoes and pale nude tights and did feel a bit maggoty! I'm going to need to work on this.

PS my nude did make my calves look chunky rather than slender, even though they were glossy and I think a 15 denier. Maybe I need to go more sheer and be careful about how pale the nude I choose is.

Personally, not sure about the green but without seeing the dress...

I think M&S Autograph would be your friend for nude without breaking the bank. Certainly avoid bare legs for now. Blue legs because of the cokd don’t pull the look off!

@star great idea, I'll try M&S autograph, thank you. The dress is a sort of animal print velvet in a dark (rather than bright) emerald green - which writing it down sounds hideous...!

M&S Autograph have some called ‘Cool Comfort Oiled Look’ (or something along those lines. I really rate them, they look the most natural out of the ones I have tried.

@Everley I'm on the M&S app now and getting confused about rose or amber etc. Thank you, I'll look at the well oiled and go from there.

Always go for shiny because matt can often look like baggy skin. I tend to buy a size smaller than I need and wear them with makeup.

But footless coloured / patterned black tights also look really nice with dresses and heels. Go to John Lewis -they have some really good stuff under 10 dernier.

I like Falke "shelina" nude tights. Golden works well on me (my legs are v v pale). John Lewis stock them (or at least did the last time I bought some).

OP, these are lovely in Rose Quartz, daft name for a colot in my view but never mind. Also available in 10 denier. They are completely seam free and so comfy as a result. The top resembles a tube.

They have a cotton gusset too, so knickers optional. I find they stop up better without. They just adhere to your body and no baggy ankles.

I think your dress sounds great!
I’m a big fan of opaque black tights.
M&S do some great 40 denier thick ones.
Does depend on what shoes you wear with your dress. Thick tights look better with non-dainty shoes I think.

I think these are the ones I buy.
Seem cheaper than I remember though!

Glad the evening went well.
Sadly, if you are overweight and it is distributed unfortunately there is not much you can do.
