Dainty slippers

Please help me find the perfect slippers. I'm a picky bugger and I actually have no idea where to start. I'm wfh and it's getting cold, so I want something cosy, but I loathe anything that makes my feet look bigger. I hate those massive clumpy novelty slippers you get in Primark, and I can't stand the ones like Ugg boots either. I take my slipper inspiration from Sara in A Little Princess, who had a shoemaker who made her feet look tiny. In the past I've worn Highland dancing pumps (the ones with black elastic, not the ones with laces right up the ankle) as slippers but I think they might not be warm enough for winter.

I also want them to stay on my feet (DH bought me some backless clumpy white knitted mules last Christmas and I was horrified at how little he knew me!) and to have a sole that means I can wear them into the garden when I need to put something in the wheely bin or go to the fridge in the garage across the wet lawn.

Any ideas?

Do you want a heel? Even a slight one.

Depends on your definition of heel - in general, no, but if it was only a tiny heel like men's shoes have then that would be ok. Thank you!

Mahabis? They are pricey though.

Oooh. I do like those! £99 though (although I would get 10% off as a new customer). They do look like they've been designed with my specifications in mind, though! Pay day is tomorrow...I'm going to look some more but those are definitely a strong contender! The only thing is that one review says that they're difficult to wear socks with, which struck me as a weird problem - do you have some and is this true? Maybe the problem is chunky socks, which I don't really like.

Wow! I might possibly stretch to £91 for Mahabis but £440 is a whole different ball game! I like the bee ones, though.

Sorry ruthieness, those Amazon ones aren't my thing.

Just jumping on as I'm looking for the exact same. Considering the Mahabis but would like others to compare.

There are some nice ones on Etsy

How about these?

Or these?

Monogrammed but a bit cheaper

Thanks for the Etsy tip, I hadn't thought to look there!

Those venetian velvet ones are very beautiful!

Damart have a lot of that type of thing - have bought MiL a couple of pairs from them before as she has similar requirements to OP slipper-wise.

I’m not keen on the velvet ones, for some reason.

I can’t stop looking at the Mahabis. I like the Curve style but can’t choose between light grey with yellow sole or light grey with pale pink sole. Am I mental to be considering paying £99 for slippers? I will wear them every single day without fail until May.

I’ve messaged the Etsy seller to see what sort of sole the knock-off version has. It doesn’t look like a rubber sole, though.

I have these -www.houseofslippers.co.uk/sleepers-audrey-iii-ladies-full-wide-slippers-navy-blue-p6558

I know they look a little old-ladyish but are surprisingly dainty on, with quite a substantial but not clumpy sole. I really like how they look on my feet!

@TooExtraImmatureCheddar
Am I mental to be considering paying £99 for slippers?

Yes, utterly bonkers IMO. However, I have a cat and dog who have no respect for human possessions, a DH who will force the end of his size 10's into my slippers and mince down the path with the bin on a rainy night, and a budget that balks at £99 for an entire outfit, including accessories. Our lifestyles may be completely different...

Erm, well, I have an 11 week old puppy who chews everything and my budget is not enormous. I seem to have spent lockdown spending more and more on clothes (as in, suddenly buying cashmere instead of a bog-standard jumper for £30) and I’m not very sure why.

I may have a winner! onaie.com/collections/ladies/products/grey-felt-wool-slippers
Cheaper than the Mahabis, and when I clicked on the Etsy ones properly I discovered that the shipping from Poland was £13.
