Where to buy UK size 4 clothes?

I don't even know if this is the right area to post this in as I'm more of a lurker than a poster normally, but I'd love some advice on where to buy UK size 4 clothes online.

A good friend has lost a lot of weight due to illness and isn't likely to put it back on anytime soon. Her clothes are hanging off her and she's got a birthday coming up, and I'd like to buy her a pretty jumper or something that would actually fit her as I think that would make her feel better about how she looks at present.

I can't find anywhere but ASOS that stocks a size 4 and it's not really her style (she'd be more of a White Stuff or Boden type). Can anyone advise me where to look, please?

Might have to look at teen girl clothing to find that size

Zalando is good - over 3,000 jumpers in a size 4 currently on there.

Monki might be worth a try - they do Xxs in their knitwear, like this jumper maybe / www.monki.com/en_gbp/clothing/knitwear/jumpers/product.puffed-sleeve-knit-sweater-green.0823556010.html (sorry rubbish at links!)

Also I don't know how tall your friend is but I am 5'0"/UK4 and that roughly translates into age 12-13 in teenage clothes if you were going to look around.

Top Shop do 4s I think (also a petite range)
H&M do 6s - maybe 4s?
Brandy Melville do one size only, which is basically XS!

Teen stuff is definitely an option. You could even buy something in a larger size and have it taken in?

Asos

Sorry saw you have looked there! Some own brand asos (asos design) are nicer and they do decent basics

Try some retailers in southern European countries or Korea, they’re geared up for smaller people.

I was size 4 for a while post DC1 and as others have said teen ranges worked well. Maybe the teen range from Boden. I also found things in Gap adult range often went to XS or XXS.

What a lovely thing to do for your friend.

Next has size 4 in underwear, I had to buy some for my small teenage DD so might stock other things in that size.

Primark does small sizes and New Look, H&M and Next teen ranges are good. My DD 13 who's really slim compared to her peers is a size 6 so a 4 is very small so yes must be hard to get hold of. The above all do clothes an adult could wear.

I'm very grateful for all these suggestions. It seems so much easier to find clothes this small for young women, but we're in our fifties so it's more difficult. I'll work my way through these this weekend!

Whistles do size 4

Report
Brillenbar47 · 19/09/2020 06:58

I am also little - whistles do a size 4 and brora do a size 6 which is a proper 6 not a vanity 6 like most (and they can have real bargains in their clearance section). Otherwise it is not easy - the us retailers ( banana republic and j crew) do some v small sizes and you can still buy online (they withdrew shops a while back) but ordering is slow and returns difficult last time I tried

Jack Wills do a size 4, as so Hollister. I know they’re geared towards young women but many of their styles are quite neat and traditional.

Completely derailing the thread OP but it always amazes me the variety of sizes and shapes humans come in! And thanks for this thread I now have some shop idea for my DD.

Thank you so much for your help, everyone - I've browsed all the recommendations and found her a size 4 jumper that is exactly the sort of thing she likes, so I couldn't be more pleased. Smile
