This thread is for those that LOVE beauty products... so much so they hoard them, and covet them and behold the beauty that they contain!

Hi y’all and thanks for the new thread!

An empty to kick us off - pack of 50 oval cotton wipes (scraping the barrel, I know). I am looking at swapping to reusable. Can anyone recommend reuseable wipes please for make up removal? I use Garnier micellar water for removing make up.

@WellTidy I got some reusable wipes off Etsy - there are loads to choose from and buying their supports an independent and you can get some lovely patterns.

Happy to see we’ve made it to the 11th thread – I love coming here to read your reviews! ❤️

As for my progress, I’ve been outdoors a lot recently, and used up two sunscreens: Piz Buin Tan Intensifier SPF 6 (150 ml; £8.50) and Elizabeth Arden Great 8™ Eight Hour® Daily Defense Moisturizer SPF 35 (5 ml; GWP). Both have highly toxic ingredients, so wouldn’t recommend.

Bar soap gone - boots baby one. I love the smell...also cheap.

Also ditched a bare minerals complexion corrector gel foundation thing. I’d forgotten about it and if had separated. So binned. It was nice on but the colour wasn’t right for me anyway.

I’m furiously working through my hand cream stash. I have one on my night stand. One in the kitchen. One in both bathrooms. On on my desk at work and one in my bag. I will get through these. So much sanitising has meant dry chapped hands. Eugh.

Oh my lord. Just had the mother of all clearouts. 2 (medium sized) bin bags full of makeup, hair products and skincare. Anything older than 6 months : gone. And there was a lot. Lots of Revolution and W7 palettes that I have no idea why I bought as I have some lovely UD and Anastasia/Morphe/Chantecaile ones. So all the dupes have gone.

Still got a ridiculous amount left but it's more organised now.

But have the big rituals advent for December and just ordered the Holland & Barrett one. Mainly because of the larger sizes. I chucked so many minis!

Finished a Clinique Lash Power mascara. Tubing mascara, and I love it. Have another 2 in my stash, but will repurchase once they're done.

Had a large clearout the other day and got rid of a lot of makeup that I just won't ever use. Stuff like cream eyeshadows bought several years ago, lipsticks bought many years ago - and most of it used a few times when it was new, and rarely (if at all) since.

Now all of my beauty products fit in the storage I have for it (rather than have some of it on the table top) and it makes it so much nicer to use, and I actually want to use all of the products I have.

Experiment Etsy is a good suggestion - I always forget about Etsy.

Costa well done on the empties. I can see that you have Elemis PCMC in there. I have it in full size from last years advent calendar. Do you rate it, and if you do, what is your skin type? I don’t know whether to open it or give it to my sil. My skin is dry to normal but I do have an oily nose, no allergies, but pigmentation is an issue. I’m 45.

Costacoffeeplease · 18/09/2020 18:45

Yes I use it a lot, my skin is pretty normal and doesn’t react to anything (and I try lots of different things Smile)

I’m 55 in a couple of weeks. I’d use it if I were you

Thanks costa. I will give it a go after I finish the Elemis peptide-4 day cream. Which I also don’t mind but don’t like enough to purchase. Lovely consistency and smell and lightness, I’m just not sure that it’s doing much Smile

Finished my Vitamin C paste. I just love this....it makes my skin look like glass like nothing else. The one down side is, it feels like I'm smearing a sherbet syrup on my face. I really hate the stickiness and sweetness of it. But the effects are off the scale.

Estée Lauder eye cream done. Was ok but I’ve reverted back to my usual Clinique. Couldn’t get the pink one in boots so ended up with the one in the silver pot (anti gravity eyes). Have used this previously and rate it.

I’m loving recommendations for the rated vitamin c paste and Clinique eye cream! Both very much noted!

My empties:

50ml body shop Italian summer fog perfume - bought for about £6 in a sale and they don’t do it anymore. Liked it, but as a room spray

M and s 10 ml fig perfume - part of a set and I liked it, very light and no staying power but fantastic value for money for anyone that likes figgy scents (me)

Elemis primer 5ml. Lovely scent and light to use. Gave a nice glow. But comes nowhere near my HG (Benefit pore-fessional)

400ml Garnier micellar water. I use this daily and have done for years, so I’ve replaced it with the 700ml size.

Finished a mini Pat McGrath lip balm in Blow Up.

This mini was part of a set of 3 (bought on sale for £8), and this shade is a light nude (the other two in the set are clear and a dark red/brown tone).

It was quite a nice balm, but I've noticed that as it wears off, dried light colour is left on the corners of the lips and that just doesn't look very good.
A lip balm should be a low maintenance product - throw it on, forget about it until wanting to reapply - it should not be one where you have to check if it still looks okay on the lips after an hour.

I really like the shade, but I would like a product that does not look weird as it wears off, and I am not paying 28 quid for a tinted lip balm.

Just had a rough time recently and have splurged on new potions. Trying to look after myself a bit better.

Finished a 200ml bottle Alpha H liquid gold.
Love it, hopefully have a new one in my stash.
Will definitely buy again (alternatively taking suggestions for better options).

Been around too long, time to recycle them!

The Batiste dry shampoo isnt as good as the orignal. I think ill stick with the orignal one tbh, this doesnt live up to that product.

Ren cleansing milk, its a no thrills cleanser. I really love it though, its make me feel so soft and hydrated. I looked foward to using it on an evening. Once im through all my other cleansers ill be repurchasing.

Caudalie body oil, sat in the bottom on a drawer for 2 years. Used it for shaving..

S&G body scrub. I wasnt going to buy anymore S&G, but ill repurchase this scrub.

Nivea shower milk. Ill repurchase too, the scent is lush.

Oo QueenOllie will you report back on the Kate Somerville? I know at that price there is almost zero chance of my getting it unless it is miraculous!

Love the sound of the Lixirskin vitamin c paste SusanDey , I've nearly bought that a couple of times, will have to try it. I think I love cleansers more thAn anything else.
