of all classic trainers, which ones are the most flattering/stylish/timeless?

Converse all star? One star? Gazelles? AF1s? Internationalist? Vans old skool? Stan smiths? Adidas sleek? Something else?
I'm decluttering and just want to keep the timeless stuff . Already chucked a broken pair of cons and a tired out pair of puma suede. Both probably 5 to 10 years old maybe more?

I used to wear converse, but realised they made my feet look really big and long. Now I'm a Stan Smith concert. I've got 4 pairs. I'm obsessed with them. They're so so comfy.

Internationalists

My all time favourites are Converse One star in suede. Or Adidas Sambas.

You can probability guess my era from my answers grin

My favourites are superga

I have quite a few pairs on converse, but always wonder why the toe ends up kind of curling up! I like them but its kind of annoying!
Never had supergas.
I too have gazelles and cons in my most frequently worn. I may well be from the same era @caughtalightsneeze grin back then I lived in superstars and some bright yellow pumps with blue stripes, i think they were adidas?

Gazelles are my fave. Love them.

Converse

Stan Smiths. Had my first pair nearly 20 years ago and have had a pair ever since. They're more comfortable than converse and more practical (not canvas).

I do quite like Sleek but they're not as classic.

I avoid Nike as generally their ethics are below Adidas (I feel bad enough buying Adidas frankly, but it's only once every 2-3 years)

Internationalists here too. I walk a lot and prefer the curve to a flat sole.

I LOVE Sambas; bought myself a pair recently and the leather squeaks so loudly I can't bloody wear them!!

Suede DCs - plain, simple, comfy

I would say the basic all white Stan Smith

Reebok classic...so comfortable or Nike Cortez...I snap them up on eBay when I spot in my size..converse are flat and no instep.. awful things..tried on and never bought as know they will be uncomfortable.

Reebok Classic here too !
I loved my Reebok Hitops back in the day ...

Elloello Wed 16-Sep-20 16:08:14

Just remembered I had some Nike Cortez back in the day!
I really fancy some Vans Old Skool in a colour other than black. Would I be unreasonable and appear to be trying to be down with the kids? They just seem so comfy, there are so many sales on at the mo too.

Adidas Sleek are my holy grail but I wouldn’t say they’re classics.

Jontysmum Wed 16-Sep-20 16:19:50

Skechers. I'll get my coat..

Juancornetto Wed 16-Sep-20 17:01:03

Definitely Nike Cortez, they're such a lovely shape

I love my cons. Though no good for walking for too long or stopping your feet from getting bloody freezing. I buy all colours I think I'm on about 14 pairs now. They were too expensive 30 years ago when I only had one pair so now I earn my own money I can't help myself.

I like Old Skool Vans too which I bought for DD

You bought them for your dd....this is why I ask, is it a younger generation thing now, i don't want to be viewed as trying too hard or whatever or to be down with the kids grin

I've got some great rainbow Gola ones (in two colours)!

wishywashywoowoo70 Wed 16-Sep-20 19:46:05

Only because she asked. Little did wore them twice after Christmas then never again now they're too small. I'd buy a pair myself but I've got too many pairs of Cons.
also got 3 pairs of trainers. Some sketchers and random next daps
I clearly have issues
