A nice scent for work?

CitizenCandyKane · 31/08/2020 06:43

Can anyone recommend a nice, but not too out there scent for a new job?

Currently wearing DKNY Be Delicious, but really prefer powdery, floral (rose, violet) or gourmand perfumes.

Also have:

Prada Infusions D'iris
Narcisso Poudree
Jo Malone Red Roses
Estee Lauder Summer Sun
Liz earle No 20
Mugler Angel eau sucree
Mugler Aura
YSL Paris

Needs to make me smell nice and memorable, but not kill anyone within a 20 metre radius.

There is no nice scent if you are on close proximity in a closed environment (speaking at someone prone to perfume induced migraines)

I'm not in close proximity, so that will not be a problem.

I have Estée Lauder Modern Muse for work at the moment. I don’t think the testers are out in shops so it’s all a bit tricky at the moment!

Molecule 02. It is almost a non scent, so clean and fresh but very sexy, almost like natural pheromones. People literally chase me around the building when I wear it but not in an over powering way and you can’t smell it on yourself. Only need a few sprays.

The lightest, most subtle that you've got. Honestly, perfume is such a subjective thing that there's almost nothing that everyone would like. I cannot stand jasmine or iris but my best mate loves them.

Insolence by Guerlain.
My all time favourite, I always get complimented on this.

I don't want to remember someone's scent at work, I just don't want to get a migraine or asthma attack from them.

No perfume at all would be the best.

With all due respect, I didn't ask for input on whether I should wear scent..just suggestions for something light but pleasant to wear.

I work in an extremely large space, well ventilated, where everyone else will be wearing scent too. Its highly unlikely that my abstinence would make any difference.

You might like Frederic Malle's Lipstick Rose, based on the notes you like - it is very expensive but absolutely delicious. Also Diptyque Eau Duelle on the more gourmand side. I tend to wear the ED a lot in autumn/winter, and the FM more in spring.

OP, come and join us on the perfumista thread for suggestions - we never tell people not to wear perfume, and are very friendly!

I like Guerlain Insolence too. It's violet based.

I love Prada Iris too. I wear Hugo Boss The Scent for work. It's powdery and fresh and not overpowering for daytime.

Lalique Amethyst always makes me think of violets, they used to do a lighter version; Amethyst Eclat but sadly that isn’t available anymore.

Bath House do one called Life Is. The original Stella is rose-based I think.

Dolce & Gabanna - 'The One' is a lovely, light scent.

I didnt know that ‘scent for work’ was a thing.

Where do you work / what do you do OP?

If you’re looking for something fresh and clean smelling then issey miyake L'eau d'issey is beautiful. There’s a summer version too.

I wear Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel. Wear it to work and outside of work. Now wondering if it's too overpowering for an office....

I'd recommend M& S Vanilla & Woods which is a lovely floral gourmand fragrance and a huge bottle which is cheap as chips! Their new fragrance range is really good - Mimosa & Bergamot is gorgeous too.

I also love Bath House Life is.... as recommended above!

Misia by Chanel might appeal, too nice for work though.

I wear either Paul Smith Rose or Elizabeth Arden Green Tea, but both are so subtle that I doubt anybody ever notices.

Kenzo Flower is a nice, light violet one.

Kenzo flower is the one I had to beg a colleague not to wear as it caused migraines.

Elizabeth Arden True Love is a soft, powdery floral that’s also pretty cheap.

Nina Ricci Rose Extase if you want a fairly cost-effective gourmand rose.

Guerlain L’Instant Magic is a soft and powdery and leans gourmand.

If you want to be a bit more spends, agree that Chanel Misia is lovely. Also 4160 Tuesdays Tart’s Knicker Drawer and if you want to blow the big bucks, PDM Delina.

Portrait of a Lady by Frederic Maple is another powdery rose.
Noa by Cacharel is clean and soapy as is Philosophy Amazing Grace (I think it's called) (both iris-y and soapy like the Prada)
Kenzo flower as others have said is clean and light.
The new Chanel Eaux are lovely and light (but not rosy or gourmandy)

Why do people wear perfume to work? Do you smell horrid? Just be clean and you won't need to wear perfume.
As someone who used to regularly be in the toilets with bouts of nausea from someone's perfume, just don't.
And even if you do wear it, please spray it at home. Don't carry it in your bag and spray on more when you're at work to "refresh it".
I would fully support a ban on all forms of fragrance at work. I don't need to be smelling 37 different types of perfume/cologne every time I walk to the printer.

People wear perfume to work because they like to. Last time I checked, it was still legal.

I wear Peony and brush suede by Jo Malone and use the solid form so it is not strong.
