Best light foundation

I’m mid forties and never really worn much in the way of make-up. But my skin tone is very uneven (freckles, dark circles). Is there a light, easy to apply foundation that could help?

It depends on the level of coverage you're looking for. I am early 40s with freckles and am absolutely in love with Glossier perfecting skin tint. It's very very light coverage, but just enough to even out my skintone. It gives a really beautiful dewy finish and in the month or so I've been using it, I've had so many compliments on my skin i actually can't believe it. People have even noticed my glow on zoom calls which i was amazed about.

For me the light coverage with added glow is the most flattering effect on 40s skin, rather than heavier, matt coverage.

However, i would say this is only good for you if you are seeking something very sheer. If you have a look at the website, there's lots of different colours and photos to help you match your skintone. You can also send them a message directly with a photo and they will advise you of the ideal colour for your skin.

For me there is absolutely nothing better than Chanel aqua vitalumiere. Really light coverage fluid that gives a lovely dewy glow. I've wasted so much money trying light foundation that friends and magazines say are amazing and they are nowhere near as good as the Chanel one.

Clinique BB gel is very light coverage, but when I want a little bit more my favourite lightweight foundation is Bobbi Brown serum foundation.

Should add the Clinique BB gel gives a lovely glow. Just looks like you’ve been on holiday, but you might want a little more coverage.

Try and see if you can get some samples Purpleice. Chanel, YSL etc will all do this. I think there is a website as well that send you samples of any foundation for a small price. I've used it before but cant remember the name. For shade matching Findation is great. You put in shades of foundations that you know match your skin and it pulls up what shade you will be in all other brands of foundation. I've used it a couple of times and it works!
