How do you style your fringe?

I’ve recently had a fringe cut in. Full-ish and long-ish fringe, can be swept forward or to the side. My hair is dead straight.

However, I have absolutely no idea how to dry it/style it after washing. It ends up either really flat and sticking up, or if I try to dry it with the dryer and a brush it gets really pouffy.

Any tricks I’m missing?

I use a big natural bristle brush to brush it side to side quite vigorously while drying it. Aim the hairdryer down your fringe iyswim. I watched a YouTube tutorial years ago and it was a game changer! I run straightners over it after too. I’ll see if I can find the video...

Same as @cannaethink. I use a bristle brush and vigorously brush in an x shape side to side with the hairdryer pointing down until it dries. I think it's a Sali Hughes video you need to watch to illustrate it but I'm too sweating in this heatwave to search for it 🥵

I initially curl it under for a few seconds and then just blast it from above.

I do mine with straighteners or it gets a kink in it that I don’t like.

I spritz with some styling spray and do 30 seconds with a really enormous barrel brush them do the brush vigorously from side to side while aiming hairdryer down search for sali Hughes method as mentioned about but I find a short barrel brush session at start really helps give it some shape, the right amount of pouff!

I dry mine a few different ways depending on my mood! I either dry it with a large round brush (which makes it a lot fuller and 'pouffier'), or with a large paddle brush with the x shape (a.k.a. the Sali Hughes method that @trumpisaflump mentions above!). I find I have to wash and dry it every day to stop it looking flat, and then put dry shampoo and hairspray through it once I've finished drying it. A hairdresser also advised me to lift up my fringe and put face powder on my forehead right up to the roots, and that's really helped too. It also helps if you dry it as soon as you're out of the shower when its still pretty wet, if you leave it until its semi dry it'll never sit properly. It sounds a lot of work, but I find if I just wash and dry my fringe every day I can get away with washing and styling the rest of my hair a lot less!

One big velcro roller, while it finishes off drying and I do the rest of my hair with my Babylis big hair.
