Product for keeping volume when I'm air drying my hair?

My hair is extremely fine, and prone to be greasy. I wash it every other day, and I always blow dry and straighten because it's quickest before work.

It's massively heat damaged and I'm having it cut tomorrow to try and sort it out. I'd like to start washing it at night and leaving it to dry naturally, but the problem is whenever I've done this in the past it's looked awful when I wake up! Really flat and greasy, and I've ended up having to re wash it and style it!

Can anyone recommend a product I can use to avoid this?

I hope someone has an answer to this OP
I really prefer to wash my hair in the evenings for routine and it would be great to prevent my hair looking awful by the morning. I do not get on with dry shampoo and I’ve been trying Hairstory New Wash which seems to give my hair a better texture and is a little more forgiving (It’s a ‘co-wash’ as no conditioner but is £££ to use). Still not found the real answer.

I would recommend Klorane dry shampoo. It’s quite pricey but very effective.

It's a nightmare isn't it @LittleCatZ!

@Timeandtune when would I use it? Would it be the next morning when it's dried? I must say I struggle with dry shampoo, I know most people swear by it but all the many brands I've tried have done absolutely nothing to my hair. It never looks fresher or more voluminous. In fact I stopped buying it at the beginning of lockdown and haven't missed it!

I was about to say Klorane too! I sometimes put it in before bed and don’t brush it out, wake up with nice clean fresh hair!

I've started putting dry shampoo on newly washed hair before I go to bed but I turn my head upside down and spray the underside of my hair.

Wash in the morning instead? I have fine hair and sleeping on it when its freshly washed never turns out well.

I agree with PP about sleeping on freshly washed hair. I wash in the morning and dry and shape with my hands. Maybe a little hairdryer if very damp.
Using some Treseme blow-dry cream, mousse, volume sprays - just experimenting at the moment too.

I'd prefer to wash it in the morning and let it dry naturally, problem is I start at 7am for work most days and I don't think I'd have time!
Honestly I'm prepared to give up at this point and accept damaged hair instead! This is last night's carefully followed YouTube tutorial on overnight beachy waves and it looks AWFUL! Good job the hairdresser is washing it again this afternoon!

Ask your hairdresser for advice on lower maintenance styling? -That's what I plan to do when I get back

On my roots, I’ve used Windle London Thickening cream which is for wet hair and you can blow or air dry. Have also tried IGK rich kid coconut oil which is also good, a bit greasier so only use a small amount. I think that’s better for all round volume.

If you’re looking at something to leave in overnight so you don’t need to wash your hair again in the morning then would also recommend IGK antisocial overnight dry mask.

I usually sleep in curlformers and if I just want volume and waves use the extra wide type and brush out in the morning.

Also coming on to say Klorane!

I put some kind of curlers in. I backcomb round my crown and hair spray underneath. I prefer hair spray to dry shampoo.

A couple of weeks ago I fell over this www.boots.com/tresemme-botanique-air-dry-natural-hold-gel-195ml-10261146 in Poundstretcher, not seen it before but available elsewhere too I've found. It does an amazing job! I wash mine in the morning, dry it as thoroughly as I can - towel followed by a tissue - then work this through and leave it.

If you use hair grips to slightly raise your hair at the roots while it dries then when you take them out there will be a bit more bounce round the roots. Then mousse and a good scrunch with your hands for a bit more volume.

You can get more lift in your roots by combing your hair away from your scalp when you rinse it. I find the root lift from this lasts until the next day.
