It's Saturday night. You are going to the village pub with friends. What are you wearing?

Going for a friends 40th. Others will, I think, be more casual but in that effortlessly stylish way I can only ever aspire to. I just can't seem to carry off this look and always feel 'overdressed' and a bit grumpy. Options are:

  • black pleated skirt with rust coloured camisole
  • mustard jumpsuit(nice than it sounds! Have had compliments when wearing but it's probably too dressy for pub)
  • various what I would describe as 'day' dresses
  • black culottes and cami top
  • shorts if warm? With what?
  • wine coloured jumpsuit (bit autumnal)
  • burn the lot and start again?

Issue I think is that I don't have any jeans which currently feel comfortable in due to lockdown weight gain. But I've never really worn jeans on a night out.

Day dress, heeled sandals and ‘done’ hair and make up.

Fabulous!

Probably black culottes, rust cami, most likely with nice trainers or docs.

Culottes and cami or day dress with espadrilles
Have fun

Weather is lush. So a cami top would be perfect :-)

Not shorts.

Anything else sounds lovely although might be a bit chilly? (Sorry I think my mum has possessed me and is typing on my behalf). Culottes and cami (and cardigan to be safe) sounds lovely.

For me, probably slightly cropped straight jeans, white trainers and glittery draper jumper or long drapey top. With a vest, I am never knowingly without a vest.

What style is the mustard jumpsuit?

I'd wear the first one with trainers.

Rust cami, pleated skirt, white trainers with either a cropped denim or leather jacket.

Ugh I need to go out and dress up. Around here though it’s all country pubs and everyone wears tshirts and jeans even in the evening.

I would go rust coloured top and black pleated skirt or the culottes.

Op - just curious, what colour tops do you Wear with the black culottes? I’m always boring and go for black or mustard as I have no clue. You’d think anything goes with black ...

@LioneIRichTea that's exactly it here. Pre kids a night out was in town and people got really dressed up. Now it's more drinks in the village pub, very laid back vibe, top and jeans- but both probably costing more than most of my wardrobe put together Grin

I have two camisole tops I wear with the black culottes and one is red with large leopard print (will post pic) but I wore that last time I went out with this group. The other is rust/terracotta with black lace trim.

My issue is I wear a lot of earthy tones as this suits my colouring but it does mean I feel daft in summer when everyone is wearing white or florals Confused

One of the jumpsuits with a good pair of heals. I always think overdressed is better than under.
However if it’s a very hot day, I agree with a summer dress and a pair of wedges but hair and make up to look like you’ve made an effort. Maybe with a little denim jacket for the evening if it gets chilly

Yes this! Rusts, mustards and greens are my colours as well as navy. I think I’ve nailed an Autumn wardrobe but completely clueless in Summer if I have to dress in anything but a black vest/tee and jeans ☺️

@LioneIRichTea are we twins?! I see so many people wearing white T-shirt's with jeans or skirts swishing around looking effortlessly glam- I don't even own a white T-shirt because white makes me look dead Grin

@Acunningruse 😁 white T-shirts are hard to wear as most of them are so thin and see through and I don’t want to spend like £30 on a white tee 😆

Weather tomorrow forecast to be mini heatwave so will feel a right plonker if I wear winter jumpsuit and autumn colours so think I will go day dress, strong lipstick big earrings and sunglasses.
