Facial soap recommendations

RoadTripsOceanDips · 22/07/2020 17:48

As per the title, I’m looking for recommendations for facial soap please. I like the feeling of cleanliness using a bar soap gives. I don’t like the resultant tightness from regular soap, although we use it for hands and bodies. I’ve just turned 40 and have combination skin. Does anyone have any suggestions of brands to try?

I am currently lusting after korres camomile facial cleansing bar soap but it seems to be difficult to get hold of. I am the same op I love facial soap and the feeling it gives. Apparently ethique is good but I am not mad on the price.

I've just bought a facial soap made by a local seller - a detoxing charcoal bar, very interested to see what it's like as I like the idea of making my own (have been making my own soap recently). Am trying it tonight.

Avene cleansing bar is nice and doesn't dry skin out. I don't know if it removes makeup though.

The Clinique one in liquid form? I think it comes in extra mild, mild and something else.

I had the mild one and it was nice. Also had the extra mild but it gives no foam at all so I wouldn’t get it again.

I use the Avene bar too - it’s really lovely. Very gentle and smells gorgeous.

Sorry! I didn’t read the OP properly. You want a bar soap.

Err... the Clinique one?

Blush (I don’t work for Clinique I swear).

I love the Korres one but it's really difficult to find. Some on eBay!

I really like facial soap bars and might try the Avene one as recommended here. I saw that Sainsbury's had a range in store too but not tried them.

I use the Clinique one, I like it. Added bonus (in normal times of lots of travel) that bars don’t count as liquid for hand luggage. That was the whole reason I started using it!

I would also recommend the Clinique bar soap - I've got the liquid version at the moment but I think I prefer the bar really.

The Avene one is lovely. My mum now uses it after trying mine.

Waitrose Pure glycerine soap. Lovely, no 'tight' feeling afterwards and only costs around £1.00 per bar.

Thanks everyone. I was a bit of a Clinique addict when I was younger - surprised I didn’t think of that! Does the bar remove make up as well or do you need a separate product?

Also, I’ve used an avene foam cleanser previously, which was lovely. As the bar is a cold cream very does it make your skin very oily? Never used cold cream before.

@Muminabun the ethique do look lovely. Just seen there is 25% off at Holland and Barrett if it helps.

Moo Goo soap. The goatsmilk one suits me.
I asked if it could be used on the face and they said yes because it was not stripping.
I'm very wary about using 'ordinary soap's on my face but this one is great.
I think it was around £5.
I cut it in half and I've had it a year and use it almost every day.
Barely left a dent in the first half.
I only use it on my face though because I couldn't afford to have it as an all over soap really.
It's gentle and absolutely no tightness or drying.
As a teen I used that orange Neutrogena facial soap and also the one in the pump. They used to make my skin tight then but I didn't know any better.... and I didn't moisturise either because I had loads of spots and I thought it would make them worse!

Yes the Clinique one removes make up. I got the set of travel soaps which are smaller and they last forever!

Agree with Waitrose glycerin soap. You don’t need to spend lots.
