Eyebrow lamination- is this the answer to my prayers?

I'm hoping someone will have had this done on MN and can give me some advice.

My eyebrows are very unruly but very sparse after losing hair from having babies. (Think hairs growing in a downward direction where they should ideally be growing up if you get what I mean.)

It's a recipe for crap eyebrows as the unruliness makes it hard to pencil them or use an eyebrow kit to get them to look decent, but the sparseness means I do need to do something with them.

Have tried gels and various other products and have just come across "eyebrow lamination". I was thinking of getting this done and then at least filling in the gaps for me won't be as hard or if I do go down the microblading route, then at least they are sitting in the shape that I want.

I don’t know what lamination is, I’d recommend just going for microblading

I’ve had it a few times - it looks great to begin with but then as the hairs grow it starts to look crazy. It’s essentially a reverse perm which pushes your brows up. My eyebrows are thick anyway though, others might not end up looking like a wild 70 year old man!

I think it looks awful- makes people look a bit mad. I think it can work if your brow hair is short but if its long you just look permanently wild and surprised.

Oh, I should also have said, it only lasts a few weeks. I am white but dark skinned/very hairy, and after the first week it had started to grow out.

I hate microblading, because I think it's harsh and looks rubbish, so please explain, if this softer?

@oblomov20- You can see how it would look on you- simply brush your brow hairs all upwards and put some vaseline on them to keep it there- thats lamination. Its like a perm but for brushing the hair upward so your brows appear larger

Have you tried Rapidbrow? I'm trying that soon with the aim to have them reshaped once they have grown a bit

I had it done. I wouldn’t do it again. Brows really did feel laminated. Very plastic and rigid. You’ve got to keep them dry for 48 hours too which I found a pain.

A lot of people have a downer on microblading but if you find someone really talented at it who has a light touch it can look fantastic. A friend of mine has exceptionally sparse brows due to chemotherapy and her microbladed brows look very natural.

I had lamination done earlier this year and my brows looked hideous - so embarrassing! It felt like the Emperor's new clothes with all the staff oohing and ahhing over my fabulous brows. I bet they had a good laugh once I'd left the shop🤣

Have you tried soap brows? I think it would give you the effect you are looking for.

I saw Frankie Bridge recommending Eyebrow Queen Brow Fix on Instagram the other day. It looks good. Can't vouch for it personally.

I am actually going to be opposite here because I loved my laminated brows. My eyebrows are not too thick but always struggle to keep them in a shape I like even with product but lamination gave them a thickness and shape that I loved and no I didn’t look permanently surprised or anything. Mine lasted ages as well at lease 9 weeks, can’t wait to get them done again!

You can laminate your own brows really easily if you use a lash lift kit off amazon - then you can control exactly how 'straight up' you have them. I've done mine a few times and it's so easy.

Try HD brows first, which is essentially a tint and shape followed by a lot of primping.

Castor oil is also very good to encourage new growth, much better than the expensive eyebrow serums. I was really surprised.

If HD and castor doesn’t cut the mustard, look for a good, naturalistic microblading specialist and have a look at their past work before committing.

Lamination is strictly for the under 30s, is all about a “fluffy” look —and looks silly—

Can you tell how much I’ve spent on my feeble brows recently?

I’ve seen a few people who have used soap brows for a similar look. I haven’t tried personally but as it’s less permanent could be worth a try.

I think the worst part of my eyebrows really is the sparseness. Maybe I should be concentrating on encouraging growth then.

For those who laminated and did it yourself, had you had them done in a salon first and did you just dive straight in?

I thought salon might be good for threading around the fine hairs I get around the edge.

use castor oil daily overnight, they will grow back no probs!! really works.
