Best treatment for hair growth?

Can anyone recommend something to make my hair grow longer? It seems to not grow any longer than shoulder length, I have tried hair food and a few different treatments but nothing has worked, I do dye my hair but not dying it is not really an option as I’m not ready to be all grey.

Isn’t castor oil meant to be good for hair growth?

Since I’ve been taking Biotin my hair has grown both longer and thicker.

I've been doing oil pre-poo treatments - massage hair and scalp with coconut oil, castor oil, peppermint oil and a few drops of Rosemary essential oil, leave in for about 1-2 hours and shampoo out. All of them help hair grow and prevent split ends, I have great results with it, though it's not overnight (nothing with hair is)!

Iron supplements and a dedicated hair supplement helped me (nourkrin)

is it not growing or are you not retaining lengths?

Check out the rice water rinse (lots of videos on YouTube). it is supposed to be fab for hair growth.

Biotin plus other supplements (multi vit etc) and a good diet made lots of new hair grow for me.

Dusting haircuts and lots of masks/oil treatments! I also really rate the L’Oréal dream lengths range

Be mindful Biotin can cause spots. I've got oily but not spotty skin and it gave me horrendous spots! I think I'm prone to breaking out with supplements however as fish oil does the same thing.

Off to google rice water rinse now!

Check you dont have a deficiency such as anaemia, low Vit D or thyroid issues. Do you use permanent colour? Can you swap to a semi which doesn't damage the central core of the hair shaft as only coats the outside instead.

I use castings colour. Supposed to last 24 washes, but I get grey before I've washed that much! Its great because it doesnt leave the line that permanent colours do.

I use Waterman's shampoo. It's the longest it's ever been and in good nick. Lockdown has helped but it's definitely the shampoo teamed with a Manta brush that's made the difference. My friend called me Rapunzel the other day Grin

I don’t always use permanent hair colour, last time used semi. My diets quite good, vit D should be fine as I’m outdoors a lot but could be thyroid issue or anaemia.

Have ordered Biotin to try.

bird I think it’s growing but not retaining, either snapping off or falling out.

@SlaughteredChicken I've never heard of Watermans, but I've looked it up. Looks too good to be true - do you think it's really worth it? I'm tempted to try

Biotin gave me terrible spots too!!! Try nioxin hair range, designed to cleanse the scalp and clean the hair follicles. Some salons do scalp treatments too. Best bet for hair growth is a diet full of colourful vegetables, lots of good fats such as nuts and avacados.

bird I think it’s growing but not retaining, either snapping off or falling out.

if it is snapping, you need regular deep conditioning treatments. but difficult to recommend products without knowing your hair.

I've never been able to grow my hair long, even as a kid longest it got was just below my shoulders.. I've very thick hair and a lot of it, so I need something that doesn't make mine thicker, just longer!

I’ve just ordered Lee staffords hair growth scalp treatment and the scalp brush.

I’m hoping it will help because I lost a lot of hair at the start of lock down. I have to do three loops of a hair elastic now instead of two 🤨

Fluffy I have tried Lee Staffords, made my hair feel amazing but didn’t make it grow any longer, though maybe I didn’t use it for long enough. My hairs the same, feels really thin and lockdowns made it worse.

I also recommend biotin. I was very sceptical and really don’t believe in lots of supplements but honestly my hair grew so much while I was taking it. I kept catching a glimpse of myself in shop windows and being shocked that was my hair!

Nooooo. I’ll give it three months to work. Then I’ll try the Ordinarys hair serum.

Another vote for Biotin, i am suffering hair loss, and although it has done nothing for re-growth,the rest seems to grow almost overnight

SlaughteredChicken · 01/07/2020 19:13

@BinkyBoinky I started using it after my hair all snapped off (over colouring). It said use for 3 months but actually took 4 for me to notice the difference. My hair is stronger and thicker with scalp growth on some of my previously baldy bits. I do have a friend who didn't get on with it but she only gave it a week! It does dry my hair out but that's where the Manta brush comes in - you can brush without breaking and i get quite a lot of comments on my hair now.

Apparently you can buy revitalash shampoo and conditioner, like the stuff for eyelash growth, pretty expensive though

Slauteredchicken thats interesting that you have some new growth, i have been taking biotin for 2 years and still no new growth
I have taken everything under the sun, including viviscal, which is very expensive, and nothing,

Report
SlaughteredChicken · 02/07/2020 11:07

@princessTiasmum the new growth is minimal but it's there. I used to have eczema in and around my ears so rubbed the hair away. My family have a genetic version of male pattern baldness in females so I'm paranoid, but I think it's missed me. I'm very aware of the slightest change though, so I'll be sticking with this.
