Anyone tried Profhilo?

I've finally got my Botox appointment booked for next week, as my "crows feet" are really bothering me. It's the only face tinkering that I do and it takes about 5 years off me.

I'm 35 but being a new mum and a stressful few years means I have suddenly aged quite dramatically. I've got some sagging around the jawline and my nose to mouth lines have always been prominent but now my face is ageing and thinner (volume loss) they are starting to make me look older than my years.

I've considered "proper" fillers like Voluma in my cheek area but have always decided against them as I'm scared about the potential side effects (especially the rare and serious ones like blindness!) or looking like a chipmunk.

My practitioner offers Profhilo and I am considering adding it to my appointment next week but I'm a bit scared. From what I understand it's something in between an injectable moisturiser and a filler. I've heard from a few people it's less risky than filler as it's thinner in consistency and only small amounts are injected at various "safe" points around the face. Apparently it doesn't fill or add volume but can provide a slight lift and improvement in fine lines etc.

Has anyone tried it? Is it worth it?

Bumping for you Op, I've heard mixed reports. One mate raves about it and the other was underwhelmed. I think it's a course of two a month apart.

My sister had it. Yeah it was alright, but bang for your buck, no, I wouldn't recommend. I spoke to a cosmetic dermatologist about it too. It's probably fine if you just needed or wanted a very good facial, but as regards replacing lost volume, from her experience and also from my sister's experience, it's not a great option. Quite short-lived results too, which makes it expensive. But my sister is older than you, as I am. Maybe it would be enough for you. My choice tho, would be a good practitioner and filler.

I think it's pushed a lot by some clinics because it's almost risk-free and the returns are v good.

I tried it and it made absolutely no difference and cost a fortune. Even my practitioner warned me that it didn’t have great results but I was keen to try after reading a thread on here last year.

How did you manage to get an appt? No salons are open yet, and next week their insurance will not be valid as they have not been given permission to work yet!

I know 2 people who have had profilo, and not happy or worth the cost
I have had cheek fillers and they have made aassive difference
Don't go to a salon, mine were done by a dentist,they know where muscles and nerves are in the face,it has knocked 10 years off me,
I only had them due to loss of volume, and i have a small face,but don't look like a hamster lol,also lifted jowls a bit

it’s a private GP with an aesthetic clinic. She is apparently allowed to begin seeing her existing/regular patients again for select treatments. She will be in PPE. The other services they offer there (eg facials) are not available again yet.

@princessTiasmum I would love to have cheek filler but I am just too scared! For some reason I’m convinced I’ll be the one in a million (or whatever the stats are) who ends up blind. I think I read a couple of horror stories and got myself all worried and so now it’s a battle between my vanity and my fear.

I think I’ll probably end up dipping a toe in the water with the profhilo and eventually getting filler anyway!

I’ve had profhilo a couple of times. I noticed a bit of difference in volume but my skin was a lot more glowy. I have since switched to sculptra which gives volume throughout the whole mid face region. It is excellent- takes a couple of months to work but is incredibly natural looking.

I had it twice. Painful, lumpy (to start), then the smallest possible effect. Utter waste of money

@TheOnlyAletheia I'm interested in Sculptra and have looked into this in the past. I've heard that you can get lumps/bumps that are permanent as a side effect though? This is what put me off otherwise I would have gone for if already!

My doctor says that since the treatment protocol recommends dilution now that has addressed that side effect. She also said that she hadn’t had any issues tho. They are very stern on massaging it for 5 mins, 5 times a day, for 5 days, to avoid it.

Yep waste of money for me. Lumps for a week and no improvement.

Kind of disgraceful that it’s even on the market still . I think it’s a bogus, invasive treatment with no upside.

I now think she hadn't done them before but didn't say, they didn't look like cheekbones just filled the area i had lost volume from
Have a few consultations first, and ask to see photos of previous clients,i know they don't like doing this because of confidentiality, but might just show that area of before and after

Following this thread. I have booked for a consultation for profhilo next week. I don’t have fillers or Botox and I don’t want them yet. I heard profhilo is supposed to make your skin look very hydrated... has anyone actually had a good result with it?
