Anyone used Klarna for Cos/& Other Stories?

After all these months of buying nothing I’m ready to shop again and have some big wish lists on Cos, Arket and & Other Stories. Planning on ordering everything to try on at home and then send back what I don’t want. I’d only heard bad things about Klarna and not sure it’s a great thing as I can see how people might get into trouble using it. However one the ways it’s apparently intended to be used is so that you can do just as I’m planning to do - try before you buy - it’s quite appealing to not have to have the money go out of my account and then wait for a refund.

However, in my experience all of the Cos etc gang take absolutely ages to process refunds and it looks like you need to pay Klarna 30 days after you order. Even if I tried everything on as soon as it arrives and send stuff back within 24hrs I reckon it would be more than 30 days for a refund. So I’d end up having to pay the full Klarna bill and then wait for the refund.

Anyone got any experience with this? Do they process klarna returns any quicker to avoid this happening?

I use klarna a lot and never had any issues with refunds.

It's fantastic. Always refunded promptly if items not kept. They've put payments on hold whilst returns are made. Super helpful customer service.

I love it.

You can pay things off early too

You have an option on the Klarna site to say you are making a return and they suspend payment - easy!

Oh that’s good to hear thanks. I often need to order things in more than one size as fit can vary so much and this makes it a lot easier.

Clearpay are also very good like that.

Me! I use it all the time for the shops you have mentioned. We don’t have those actual shops here, so I tend to order a few things at once. I have also used it for Monki for the same reason, and Topshop just before payday.

I didn’t realise they had put payment on hold while returns are processed, but I have used the “snooze” option when a return has taken longer then expected. That gives an extra ten days.

It's easy and as PP say you just pause the payment for a return.

Just be aware it is a credit facility, there will be a search of your credit history and missed or late payments will affect your score just like with a credit card. You'll also get a limit although they don't tell you what it is, so without warning, the credit option won't be available or it will be refused. They, and Clearpay, are a bit sneaky like that, making it sound like it's just a try before you buy no hassle option.

I’ve used Klarna a few times, however the last time they didn’t emailed a reminder that payment was due and I completely forgot so it would have been a late payment. If you have a memory that isn’t like a fish like mine then it’s great!

Thanks all, the credit check thing is interesting. Klarna claim that they only do a soft check and I can already see some on my account over the past year where they’ve obviously been checking how much I could ‘borrow’ if I chose to use them. Cos etc use Klarna for all their payments now even if you’re paying straight away so I guess Klarna get your details then. My understanding is that they only do a hard check which can then impact your credit score if you select the option to ‘split’ your repayments i.e. pay it back over instalments which is fair enough as that’s no different to a credit card/next directory type set up.

I use Klana for this reason, I tend to do very big orders but perhaps only want to keep a %...
One thing I have noticed, and Dorothy perkins is an example, if you shop using Klana you have less return options and have to post it back.
But, so long as you behave like you would a credit card and make sure you pay it properly (can also pay it off in one go if you prefer) I think Klana is a really good idea.

Also, I've had a refund through Klana before very efficient with that too.

Klarna is great. The app is really handy too - it sends you payment reminder notifications.

I use it like that. You just report the return and payment is paused, then they update the invoice once the return is received. You can also “snooze” payments and add an extra 10 days.

Cos, Monki etc are also doing parcel pickups with Hermes so you don’t have to drop off at a parcel shop, you just book a collection. We don’t have any left open for about 30 miles as the shops who did it locally shut for lockdown.
