Bikini top for 30D teen

Crosswordocelot · 01/06/2020 14:45

My teen DD is petite (5ft) slim with 30d (possibly E as not measured since last year) bust.
Finding it really hard to find a suitably fitting bikini top (but havent really got £40 on something that might only be worn a handful of times) she bought a kids bikini last year and while the knickers fit, the top is nowhere near suitable size. She also had a size 8 one, the band is ok but the cup size is not enough.size 10 would be way too big on the band.
I found some larger size ones online but a lot look a bit mumsy for a teen.
Any ideas please?

My dd was similar- whilst M&S were rubbish for bras they were strangely good for bikinis - they also sell tops and bottoms separately which helps.

Hello! 30E here! I buy separates usually. Can get lovely bra size bikini tops in different styles on Ebay for example. Another tip is those bikinis that are tied with string - ignore the sizing and go for a bigger one (I think I've got one in size 16). Comes with a much larger cup and you can tie the string however tight you like.

Have a look at boob or bust for a measuring calculator, and this size may influence the brands; brastop has great offers on at the moment, so worth a look. ASOS has a D+ range which is quite funky with mix'n'match separates.

Don't forget to take into consideration where / when it will be worn - I go up in the band if somewhere really hot as I swell up, and some "pretty" tops may not be suitable for anything other than lying still.

Try ASOS and brastop, I have to get mine from there!

Try Freya swimwear on EBay. Usually something and much cheaper than normal prices.

Debenhams do a good dd+ range

Brastop has loads of discounted bikini separates in small back/big cup sizes.

Try Asda I always buy mine from there as I'm an F cup and always struggled but they do separates so managed to get a set for about £12 instead of £50 !!

I'm a petite 30E. I usually size up a band in bikinis for comfort. Floozie by Frost French 32DD fits me perfectly - have a look at Debenhams & ASOS.

Thanks all. I've got a standard band size and fried eggs myself so not something I've had a problem with before! Interesting re the band size as she was asking me if I thought 32c would fit as she had seen one she liked but I thought would be too big round the band.

Asda goes separate piece top and bottom and the tops are bra sizes. They do E

I struggled with my 16 year old last summer, we tried M & S as a last resort on the way home and we found 3!

Have a look on asos for fuller bust bikini crop tops, less bra like than some of the bigger size offerings out there. I'm a 32GG and have a couple that are supportive and really comfortable. I just mix and match with bottoms I pick up anywhere

You say teen - do you mean 13/14 or 17/18, because that may affect what styles people suggest.

What size clothes does she wear and what are her actual measurements? Only asking as I am 8-10 and measure as 30DD, but usually wear 32D bras, and my boobs aren't big and I can just wear standard size 10 bikini tops, rather than bra-like cup sized ones.

What I was trying to say was 30D isn't actually big/fuller bust.

I’d also just buy the ones you tie and size up.

Pour Moi has a sale every now and again. Some are a bit mumsybbut there are some very pretty ones and a wide variety of sizes.
Its pot.luck in the sale but 30D is a size that may crop up in the sale.

Buy a string one in size 14 or whatever then just tie the back the length you want it .

Shes 14. She still wears some kids clothes , age 12-13 (jeggings, leggings tshirts depending on fit) or size 4,6, or xs when available.

I'm size 6-8 and 32A and most of my clothes are too big for her.

So actually her underband measurement is probably smaller than 30 inches.
I would probably look for triangle bikini tops where the cup slides along the tie string, so you can adjust them to fit over her boobs and then tie around the back as small as needed.

There are lots of reduced price bikinis on brastop, they also do free returns so you could order a load and she could try them on. I ordered a new Freya bikini today for £7 for the top and £2 for the bottoms.

The smallest bikini bottoms they do are extra small, but some have the side ties to make them bigger or smaller. You could even get some plain bottoms and a top in a coordinating colour if they don't have a matching set in the right sizes.
