Anyone else just not wear jewellery?

Just curious. I used to wear lots daily as a teen/at uni, and spent a fair amount on expensive stuff over the years. It's gradually whittled down over the years to just a small watch (need to know the time without phone at work) and thin plain wedding ring. I find it more comfortable and have just stopped bothering.

I'm wondering if anyone else feels the same? It feels like I'm an anomaly in real life. My mother is a big jewellery wearer and claims I look bare without it. Thanks Mum Grin

🙋‍♀️

Slightly more than you - a watch, engagement ring and wedding ring.
Makeup free too.
My ears get sore if I put earrings in, and necklaces drive me barmy. Never even contemplated a bracelet, tho I guess if it was as tight as a watch, and do didnt move about, it could be ok?

No jewellery

Yes me, watch, wedding and engagement ring, and I have some earrings in.

Somebody usually buys me some earrings, I put them in, and leave them there until somebody buys me some new ones! I think my last pair were in for about 6 years!

I wear my wedding ring, and my grandmother's locket. That's it. Occasionally a watch.
Very rarely I'll wear my eternity and engagement rings.

I have some diamond jewellery (mostly inherited) that I never wear as I'm petrified of losing. DH bought me emerald and diamond earrings for my 40th, I've worn them once.

I'm not a 'glitzy' person though 😂

I wear my watch every day that I go out, as I am obsessed with knowing what the time is at all times (and it's easy to put on), I think that's an anxiety thing. But I take it off as soon as I get home!
I have a very dainty eternity ring that I never take off, and I wear stud earrings that I only take out to clean.
That's all I wear most of the time.
I don't understand how people can be bothered to wear necklaces and bracelets every day, unless they sleep or shower in them?
I have a few good quality necklaces and bracelets, I never bother with costume jewellery, but I will make an effort to wear my necklace occasionally, and it does make me feel more put together, but I find bracelets really irritating.

I wear very little now, compared to my younger self.
I have a basic Fitbit (gentle competition for non exercising teenage dd), a cartilage piercing and a stomach piercing. Wear earrings or necklace to go out put they usually come off on the way home.
Thinking about it, I pretty much stopped with jewellery when I took off my rings when I separated.

Thanks all. It's nice to know I'm not alone!

I think it might be partly a sensory thing. It feels like a label digging in. Even my engagement ring, which is a lovely smooth bezel with no prongs or sharp edges, I can't relax with it on. And I loathe anything tight or restricting.

Just seems that jewellery is such a big emotive and cultural thing, that I'm completely missing. Or maybe that's just advertising.

I wear my engagement and wedding rings only. I've never had my ears pierced, and may be the only 41 year old never to have had them done!

Plain band wedding ring.
I find it annoying, irritating and in the way so have never been a fan.

Same with nails/eyebrows/eyelashes, hair/shoes.
Really could never cope with all these added extras.
I don’t want to be hindered by anything in my way, uncomfortable, false or at least that should not be added to my person.

I’m a plain Jane and this makes me happy.

Jasquers I had my ears pierced as a 3 month old baby Hmm and they are slightly wonky. As I wore earrings for so many years I don't think they'll ever close now, though I wish they would. I remember there was only one girl at school who didn't have pierced ears and it was considered surprising back then (1990s teens).

crosser62 yep plain Jane here too! I've also never had extensions / nails /eyelashes etc, and only wear flat shoes - hadn't connected it all together. I also like the feeling of being unhindered.

Two bracelets on one arm with my kids initials on, two sparkly bracelets on my other arm with my smart watch which I remove after I've done all my dog walking.
Wedding & Eternity ring. Sometimes I'll put earrings in, but not often.

I wear quite a bit I suppose; 3 bracelets, necklace, 6 rings and 5 earrings, but I never take them off or change them. The only thing I ever change is my nose stud, and that’s only when I lose one. So although I wear a lot at once, I don’t own a lot if you see what I mean. I couldn’t be faffed with changing jewellery to match outfits or taking it on and off.

I have plenty of piercing holes but only wear two rings , one on each middle finger. I've worn them for years so feel weird without them on.

I do not even have a wedding ring. I sometimes put in titanium earrings if I go out but do not wear jewellery at all.

I don’t wear any now. Used to wear earrings a lot but not now. I stopped wearing my wedding ring after I had to remove all jewellery for an operation and never put it back on.

None. Probably sensory, don’t like things jangling around my wrist or neck. May also be because I worked with people with significant SEN for years and so didn’t wear any for their safety and for mine and still see the risks.

I wear my wedding and engagement ring, gold studs in my ears and a locket which was my mum’s on a gold chain always. . That’s all.

Just silver stud earrings and my Garmin here.

Like a PP I’ll keep these earrings in for months/years until the next pair I buy.

It’s just something else to think about. I envy these people who accessorise different outfits each day with different jewellery but I’m just not that organised or put together a person!

If I’m going out somewhere like a wedding or actual night out (not often at all) I’ll probably but costume jewellery to wear but that’s a once or twice a year type thing.

I actually wish I was the kind of person who made more effort with this kind of thing. When we get married I presume I’ll wear my rings daily.

I don’t wear any, except for the rare occasion of going out out when I’ll wear earrings or bracelets. Not even wearing my watch right now as the battery died on Tuesday. I don’t tend to wear any makeup on a day to day basis either, unless prewarned there are photos happening...

I've never worn a watch as can't bear things on my wrists.

Occasionally wear ear rings but only for going out out and take them off as soon as I get in.

The last couple of years I've taken off wedding ring in the house too and just put on when I go out.

I used to wear my engagement and wedding band, a ring on my right hand watch/fitbit, bracket, necklace and earrings. But at the start of the pandemic I remove them all going into work and just never put them back on. My nails are now also short and not polished (just filed) and I don't bother with make up as the mask just kept rubbing it off. Even my hair is just thrown back in a bun, not blow dried or styled.
I have never been so low maintanance, and I am not sure I will go back to wearing it all again unless for special occasions

I don't wear much either. I have some.really expensive items. Then some cheaper stuff and unless I'm getting dressed up I dont bother. Although I tell myself when I go back to the office I'll make more effort 🙈

No. I don't think it makes me look better so don't bother.

None at all. I stopped wearing a wedding ring when it stopped fitting me, although I did wear an old heirloom for a while but realised I didn't want to look like a wife any more.

My watches all stopped working so I don't bother any more.

I have jewellery, and have seen people being mugged for the good stuff, heard a woman scream one night 'He's taken my watch' (posh London street) so would either hide it under my clothing or not wear it. It is too much trouble now.
